The new Commas Food Hall in downtown Silver Spring has begun its soft opening, tantalizing visitors with the aromas of freshly made tacos, loaded fries, dumplings, and Philly cheesesteaks. Located in Ellsworth Place at 8661 Colesville Road, the food hall has started operations with four vendors, while it eagerly anticipates a grand opening featuring a total of 11 diverse culinary options.
General Manager Chil Chong noted the significance of the food hall’s diverse offerings, stating, “Silver Spring is very diverse, and this is the international county of Maryland, so that’s why we decided to reach out to [restaurants] with different ethnic foods.” The Commas food hall, situated on the third level of the Ellsworth Place mall, boasts vibrant orange signage and furniture, along with garden-themed murals and hanging light fixtures that create an inviting atmosphere.
The first vendors to open in the food hall were J&J Mex-Taqueria, which serves authentic Mexican street tacos and burritos, along with Tato’s, known for its loaded fries, baked potatoes, and freshly squeezed lemonade. Tato’s co-founder Cristian Saucedo shared that they have already developed a loyal customer base just weeks into their operation. “We’ve been open for around three weeks, and it’s funny because we already have our regulars,
