TACA Announces 2025 Catalyst Grants to Support Dallas County Arts Organizations

The Arts Community Alliance (TACA) has announced its 2025 Catalyst Grants, allocating $650,000 to support 50 arts organizations across Dallas County. This initiative reinforces TACA’s commitment to enriching the cultural landscape of North Texas, building on over five decades of support for the arts.

These grants are designed to accommodate a diverse range of arts organizations, covering an array of disciplines, including music, theater, dance, visual arts, and spoken word.

“In a rapidly changing world, Dallas’ arts organizations are meeting the moment with ingenuity, grit, and boundless creativity,” commented Maura Sheffler, the Donna Wilhelm Family President and Executive Director of TACA. “Through Catalyst Grants, TACA ensures they have the resources and flexibility to lead — on their terms. Our commitment is clear: empower the institutions that make Dallas a place of inspiration, innovation, and belonging.”

Importantly, the Catalyst Grants are unrestricted, allowing recipients to use the funds where they are most needed. This flexibility enables organizations to launch new programming, retain artistic talent, expand access, or stabilize their foundations.

The total funding for this year marks TACA’s cumulative general operating investment at over $32 million since its inception. This includes not only the Catalyst Grants but also the TACA New Works Fund, Pop-Up Grants, and professional development programs such as the Arts Accelerator and the Amplifier Workshops.

Sheffler emphasized the significance of these funds in a growing city known for its ambitious artistic endeavors, stating, “In a city that is growing in both size and artistic ambition, these funds are essential infrastructure.”

Generous support from TACA donors, foundations, and sponsors—both longstanding and new—has made the 2025 Catalyst Grants possible. Such ongoing contributions play a vital role in fostering a more resilient cultural sector.

Organizations like Soul Rep Theatre Company, which have benefited from TACA Catalyst Grant funding for several years, have found these grants to be a reliable source of financial support during unpredictable times. Anyika McMillan-Herod, Executive Director of Soul Rep, noted, “These unrestricted grants have enabled Soul Rep to invest where we’ve needed it most, whether it be overhead costs, administrative salaries, artists’ stipends, or production costs. TACA’s consistent confidence and support have also significantly impacted our steady growth and expanded reach in the community since the pandemic. We see TACA, not as a funder, but as a true partner in our important work.”

For newer grantees, receiving a Catalyst Grant represents a promising investment in their future. Beth Wilbins, CEO of the Dallas International Film Festival, expressed gratitude for being recognized as a recipient, stating, “This grant will empower us to strengthen our year-round film programming with the freedom to apply funds where they are needed most toward our mission of building community through the art of film.”
