Cobb County Food Service Inspection Scores Released: Highlights and Concerns

The Georgia Department of Public Health has released the latest scores from food service inspections conducted across Cobb County, featuring a diverse range of establishments including restaurants, cafeterias, and hotels.

These scores, reflective of the past week, offer insights into the food safety practices of various facilities, and for many establishments, the marks highlighted the commitment to providing quality food and service to their patrons.

At the top of the list is Quality Inn located at 1255 Franklin Gateway SE in Marietta, Georgia, achieving an impressive score of 100 in its last inspection dated July 10, 2025.

Wendy’s #146 in Powder Springs, with an inspection on the same day, received a score of 91, showcasing a solid adherence to health and safety standards.

On the other end of the spectrum, Checkers Drive Thru situated at 3745 Austell Rd in Marietta, received a concerning score of 73.

This score raises alarms regarding food safety practices, prompting potential patrons to consider their dining options carefully.

Further inquiries are essential to understand the reasons behind this lower score.

In terms of institutional food services, Pruitt Health – Austell scored 92 while Atlanta Bread Company came in with a 96 on their last inspection.

Notably, Red Lobster #0433 scored 89, which, while not alarming, indicates room for improvement in maintaining food safety standards.

Also noteworthy, The Great Greek scored significantly lower than its peers, with a score of only 49, pointing to serious concerns that need addressing.

Certain establishments garnered perfect scores of 100, showcasing excellence in their food service practices.

Tea Leaf and Creamery, for example, demonstrated outstanding commitment to food safety with its perfect score.

Similarly, Luckey’s BBQ Place, and several stores from the upcoming 2025 MLB All-Star Game held at 2 Galleria Parkway, also received perfect scores, reinforcing confidence in these venues.

Wellstar facilities, which included both Cobb Hospital Doctor’s Lounge and Cobbucina Cafe, saw exceptionally high scores of 100 and 99 respectively, emphasizing their focus on providing safe food services.

Sterling Estates of East Cobb also stood out with a score of 100 on its inspection.

In total, out of the numerous food service facilities inspected, many achieved scores of 90 or above, indicating strong compliance with health regulations.

These scores serve not only as a benchmark for public health standards but also as a guide for consumers making dining decisions.

Cafeterias and food service within educational institutions also proved reliable, with various establishments ensuring that meals provided are safe and hygienic for students.

Establishments such as KFC / Taco Bell at 2540 Delk Rd SE received a commendable score of 99, highlighting the efforts in delivering safe and tasty food options.

In contrast, Jimmy John’s at 1133 Chastain Rd NW experienced a lower score of 72, suggesting immediate attention is required to boost its food safety measures.

Similarly, while Wendy’s #92 branded an average score of 90, there remains an opportunity for these recognizable chains to consistently uphold the highest standards of food safety across all locations.

While the community is served well by many establishments, the tea leaves of food safety demand a close examination of noted lower scores.

Establishments scoring below 80 should run their own thorough internal assessments to rectify any underlying issues that could impact their reputation and patronage.

Food service facilities play a pivotal role in public health, and scores ranging widely from highs over 90 to lows under 80 underscore the continued need for diligence in monitoring food safety practices.

Overall, Cobb County’s food service inspection findings layout a roadmap that highlights both the successes and challenges within the local dining landscape.

As these establishments strive for betterment, consumers are encouraged to stay informed about their local food service options and the health ratings they receive.

The ideal future is one where perfect scores are the norm, and the community can dine with confidence knowing their health is prioritized at every establishment.
