Roslyn Bazzelle Mitchell Enters Houston Best Dressed Hall of Fame

The PaperCity Philanthropy in Fashion Houston Best Dressed Luncheon is set to take place on September 17 at the Post Oak Hotel, honoring a diverse group of individuals who share a passion for philanthropy and fashion.

Among the esteemed honorees this year is Roslyn Bazzelle Mitchell, who is being recognized for her exceptional contributions as an attorney, community leader, and entrepreneur.

Entering the Houston Best Dressed Hall of Fame, Mitchell is celebrated for the third time in the Best Dressed ranks.

Her dedication to various philanthropic causes shines through her leadership roles with organizations such as the Hermann Park Conservancy, where she serves as board chair, and Jack and Jill of America, of which she is a founding chair.

Mitchell is also actively involved with the Women’s Resource Center and has a strong passion for up-cycling fashion, an interest she furthered by co-establishing RoKi Design in 2020.

RoKi Design focuses on creating silk scarves and home goods from authentic vintage scarves and up-cycled luxury fabrics, showcasing a commitment to sustainability and reducing the carbon footprint associated with fashion.

“I love to shop pre-loved/vintage clothing and have acquired some amazingly unique items through second hand resellers, such as Oscar de la Renta Encore and the Salvation Army Women’s Auxiliary Reflections on Style Luncheon & Chic Boutique,” Mitchell shared, highlighting her affinity for eco-conscious fashion.

She showcased her fashion sense during the PaperCity Philanthropy in Fashion photo shoot, donning a stunning Oscar de la Renta gown, a treasure she discovered at Encore.

Her commitment to philanthropy is notable, having played key roles in fundraising for various nonprofits, including Tee Up for Teach and the Heart Ball.

She has also chaired significant events like the 25th anniversary gala for Project Row Houses and is set to chair an upcoming concert benefiting the National Museum of African American History and Culture, part of the Smithsonian.

Mitchell’s style is influenced by her favorite designers, including Oscar de la Renta and local talents such as Christy Lynn and Amir Taghi.

Her go-to accessory is a RoKi silk scarf, which she mixes and matches with her outfits, while her fragrance of choice is Twilly d’Hermès.

On her coffee table, you can find books that reflect her interests, including “Roar!: A Collection of Mighty Women” and “Oscar de la Renta: His Legendary World of Style.”

Traveling inspires her, particularly to places like Piazza del Duomo in Florence, Italy, while she cites the Fairmont Banff Springs as her favorite hotel worldwide.

In an interesting twist, most people assume that Roslyn Bazzelle Mitchell is an East Coast transplant who settled in Texas for college.

However, she reveals that she was born in Nassau Bay, Texas, and was the last baby born at Nassau Memorial Hospital before it closed its doors.
