Bruno Mars Lightheartedly Addresses Debt Rumors with Whimsical Instagram Post

Bruno Mars recently made headlines for a playful Instagram post where he humorously declared he was ‘almost out of debt,’ against the backdrop of the iconic ‘Rocky’ theme music as he sprinted along the stage at SoFi Stadium.

In a text message on Tuesday, Mars clarified the intention behind his post, saying it was ‘just a joke.’ This came after his lively appearance alongside K-pop sensation Rosé during the ‘Blackpink Deadline World Tour’ concert on Sunday.

The singer and his backing band, The Hooligans, performed their collaboration ‘APT,’ to a raucous crowd, with Mars jokingly announcing his supposed financial status while confetti rained down on the audience.

This isn’t the first time Mars has poked fun at claims regarding his alleged gambling debts with MGM Resorts International, a partnership that has sparked ongoing speculation. In a previous interview, Mars responded with humor to inquiries about his gambling situation, embracing the notion of being a ‘Las Vegas lounge singer in debt to the mob.’

During his performances at Dolby Live, Mars further entertains the audience by using a gold-colored mobile phone from the 1980s in a comedic routine. In this act, he expresses his frustration to a lady who ghosted him after rumors about his finances hit the internet, insisting, ‘This is me! I have a hit record! I’ve got money!’

Despite the light-hearted banter surrounding his financial matters, Mars is indeed in a strong position financially. He recently headlined a corporate event at Allegiant Stadium for the Starbucks Leadership Experience, which veteran booking agent Jay Siegen notes commands a fee between $4-5 million for such engagements.

The speculation regarding Mars’ financial situation emerged after a NewsNation story in March 2024 claimed he owed around $50 million in gambling losses to MGM Resorts. The narrative painted a picture of Mars extending his residency at Dolby Live to work off this alleged debt.

In response to these claims, MGM Resorts affirmed their positive relationship with Mars. They emphasized the long-standing partnership, stating, ‘We’re proud of our relationship with Bruno Mars, one of the world’s most thrilling and dynamic performers.’

Additionally, MGM clarified that any claims of Mars having debt with the company are completely unfounded, proclaiming, ‘Together, we are excited to continue creating unforgettable experiences for our guests.’

While MGM officials have chosen not to comment on Mars’ Instagram post, the singer has a busy schedule ahead, with nine shows at Dolby Live commencing on August 22. Fans are also speculating about a possible encore performance on New Year’s Eve.

Insider hints suggest that an exciting announcement regarding an extended engagement on the Strip may be coming soon, so fans should stay tuned for updates later this weekend.

In other entertainment news, Lily Arce will be performing with her band, Pop 40, at Wahoo’s this Friday from 7-10 p.m., with doors opening at 6 p.m. The event promises a vibrant atmosphere at the renowned live-music venue located at 10430 South Eastern Avenue in Henderson.

Arce, who is also a member of David Perrico and the Raiders House Band, has gained recognition for her musical talent, and she and Perrico are an acclaimed couple within the Las Vegas entertainment scene. Attendees can enjoy this musical experience without any cover charge.
