Street Closures Begin Ahead of Lollapalooza in Grant Park

As the highly anticipated Lollapalooza festival approaches, street closures are already in effect across Chicago, particularly around Grant Park. The festival is set to run from July 31 to August 3, featuring headliners like Sabrina Carpenter, Luke Combs, and Olivia Rodrigo.

Beginning next week, the bulk of street and sidewalk closures will take place, though some areas, including parts of Balbo Drive, have already seen closures starting Wednesday.

According to the festival’s website, organizers have worked closely with the City of Chicago to ensure a well-managed event that minimizes disruptions for local residents and businesses. They stated that the goal is to return sidewalks, streets, and parkways to the community as quickly as possible after the event.

In addition to road closures, the Grant Park dog park will be shut down from July 16 to August 9 to accommodate the festival’s preparations. However, a temporary dog park will be available southeast of the skate park during this time. Furthermore, the tennis and pickleball courts at the park will be closed starting July 27 and are expected to reopen on August 5.
