In reimagining the site, Safdie Architects propose a creative shift rather than mere repetition. The new hotel tower is strategically rotated 45 degrees from the existing formations, enhancing its relationship with Marina Bay and the Singapore Strait while also ensuring a distinctive silhouette distinct from the original tower ensemble.
Each of the 570 suites in the new tower will boast private terraces and gardens, further reinforcing the philosophy of transparency and openness in design. A self-shading façade and advanced glazing will help reduce solar gain while optimizing natural light, promoting energy efficiency alongside aesthetic appeal.
At the pinnacle of this architectural endeavor is the Skyloop, a groundbreaking feature that replaces the previous SkyPark concept. Designed as interlocking elliptical volumes that spiral in opposite directions, the Skyloop serves as a functional public-private interface as well as a striking architectural landmark.
The Skyloop will encompass various zones, including a public observatory offering sweeping 360-degree views, restaurants, and rooftop gardens filled with native Southeast Asian flora.
