Rockwall Leader Dennis Lewis Honored with ASA Impact Award for Community and Industry Service

On July 18, 2025, Dennis Lewis, a prominent Rockwall community figure and Vice President of Potter Concrete, Ltd., received the distinguished Impact Award from the American Subcontractors Association – North Texas Chapter (ASA-NTC).

This prestigious award, given only four times in the ASA-NTC’s 56-year history, recognizes individuals or companies that have left a significant, positive mark on the construction industry in the Dallas-Fort Worth area as well as the broader community.

Lewis’s surprise was palpable when his name was announced at ASA’s annual awards night in Fort Worth, where he was flanked by fellow industry professionals.

His wife, Clarissa, had kept the surprise from him, making the moment even more memorable.

Expressing his heartfelt gratitude at the podium, Lewis stated, “There are very few times I’ve been speechless — and this is one of them.

ASA is a work of love for me and Potter Concrete.

Sometimes companies start with a purpose — to make a difference, to give back — but somewhere along the way, they lose sight of that and it becomes just about money.

Those are the companies that fail.

In your business and personal life, have a purpose.

And don’t let money steer you away from it.”

Lewis’s commitment to the construction industry dates back to 1993 when he first joined ASA, later serving on its Board of Directors and taking on the role of chapter president in both 1999 and 2013.

His leadership was instrumental in launching the ASA Futures Leaders program, and he remains a fervent advocate for the construction sector, actively lobbying and testifying on legislative issues in Austin.

Furthermore, he is currently involved at the national level as a member of the ASA National Task Force on Ethics in Construction, underscoring his dedication to enhancing industry standards.

Casey Troxclair, the current president of ASA-NTC, praised Lewis, saying, “Dennis has been a proven leader throughout his career and in his personal life.

Anyone who knows him would agree — he’s one of the best humans you’ll ever meet.”

Beyond the construction realm, Lewis’s influence is felt throughout Rockwall.

He has been an active member of Lakepointe Church and is deeply committed to serving his local community.

Lewis originally served on the Rockwall City Council from 2012 until reaching his term limit in 2018, but he remained engaged in civic affairs and was appointed to the council again in 2022, later elected in 2023 and re-elected in 2025.

He has also held the position of Mayor Pro Tem and contributes to various local boards and committees, including the Rockwall County Planning Consortium, the Rockwall Emergency Services Corporation, the Rockwall Economic Development Corporation, the Hotel/Motel Tax Committee, and the City’s Art Commission.

In addition to these roles, Dennis is the Chairman of the Board of Meals on Wheels Senior Services of Rockwall County.

Dennis Lewis is a proud graduate of Texas A&M University.

He and Clarissa, his wife, relocated to Rockwall in 1993 where they raised their three children, all of whom graduated from Rockwall High School.

Through his advocacy for ethical construction practices, his efforts in shaping the future of Rockwall, and his dedication to church and community, Lewis epitomizes leadership characterized by purpose and compassion.

The ASA Impact Award honors not just a remarkable career but embodies a legacy of steadfast service to the industry, community, and faith.
