Jenné Claiborne’s Vegan Adventure: A Two-Day NYC Vlog Experience

Jenné Claiborne, the creator behind the SweetPotatoSoul YouTube channel, has unveiled her latest escapade through New York City in a vibrant two-day vlog. In this engaging video, she shares her experiences filled with delectable food, friendships, and the delightful chaos that comes with navigating the city.

Throughout her trip, Claiborne encounters subway delays and records a podcast, yet she still manages to indulge in a variety of plant-based treats. From hearty oatmeal to tahini cookies and a visit to her beloved vegan restaurant, Chloe on Bleecker, the vlog captures the essence of a spontaneous and relaxing journey centered around delicious vegan cuisine.

The absence of a strict itinerary allows for spontaneity and connection, with Claiborne adapting to the unpredictable rhythms of city life. Her two-day NYC adventure is a testament to the joy of exploring vibrant food culture while maintaining a flexible schedule.

On her first day, Claiborne begins with a slow start in her friend Isabelle’s kitchen in Brooklyn. Her breakfast consists of a simple yet nutritious bowl of oatmeal topped with blueberries, hemp seeds, and dates. While enjoying her meal, she multitasks by editing a YouTube video, all with her cat, Blueberry Muffin, as her companion.

After breakfast, she takes a brief detour to a local beauty supply store before heading into the bustling city. It’s already 10:30 AM, and she feels the time slipping away as she dresses for the day and prepares to tackle her plans. Aiming to find a thrift store before heading to a podcast taping, she sets off on her journey.

However, Claiborne’s plans are upended when she learns that the subway line she intends to take is out of service. “It’s going to take like a whole hour to get there at least,” she remarks as she finds herself waiting. What follows is a 45-minute bus ride before finally transferring to a functioning train, allowing her to reach Tribeca just in time for the podcast recording.

Post-taping, Claiborne heads to Happier, a newly opened grocery store she describes as an expensive health food haven. “It’s a super duper expensive health food store,” she notes, comparing it to Los Angeles’ Erewhon, a well-known culinary hotspot. She quickly picks up a snack, enjoying it alone. “That really hit the spot,” she reflects, noting her hunger following a disrupted lunch schedule.

Subsequently, Claiborne makes her way to Greenpoint for dinner, expressing her anticipation to finally eat. “I was so hungry because I missed lunch and all that subway trouble,” she shares, hopeful for a smoother dining experience.

The following morning, she embarks on a search for linen pants and oversized shirts at local thrift shops. Despite finding a promising pair of Jill pants, they are not in her size. Undeterred, she walks 20 minutes to another store, making a necessary bathroom stop along the way. There, she treats herself to a refreshing raspberry iced tea and a tahini cookie, although she unfortunately cannot partake in decaf coffee available at the cafe, stating, “But this is super refreshing and delicious.”

As she munches on the cookie while strolling, she gives her honest review, attributing it to her own recipe: “It’s nowhere near as good as my recipe.”

Later in the day, Claiborne pays a visit to Chloe on Bleecker, one of her favorite vegan restaurants from her NYC days. She expresses excitement that the restaurant has reopened, showcasing an entirely vegan menu. Dining with a friend in the picturesque Greenwich Village, she remarks on the area’s charm.

Although the food is delicious, she realizes the portions are quite large. “I want to finish everything ‘cause I hate wasting food, but if I do, I’m going to pop,” she jokes, ultimately deciding not to take home leftovers. After their meal, the duo enjoys some shopping in the vicinity, celebrating their finds with laughter.

Claiborne’s vegan NYC trip culminates with a final evening spent at Isabelle’s home, enjoying a quiet night before her return flight. For more insights into her plant-based lifestyle, viewers can check out her YouTube channel, Sweet Potato Soul.
