Exciting Sunday Events in West Seattle to Enjoy the Warm Weather

As West Seattle welcomes another warm day, residents and visitors have plenty of activities to indulge in. From community events to outdoor gatherings, the day promises an array of enjoyable experiences.

Starting the day, the West Seattle Glass Float Hunt continues into its third day. Enthusiasts can search for hidden glass floats around the area by following the provided clues. Updates on which floats have been discovered so far can be accessed on the dedicated webpage.

For those looking to get moving, the Westies Run Club invites runners to join their Sunday Funday run at 9 AM. Participants will gather at Caffe Ladro located at 7011 California SW.

Musical expressions are also on the agenda, as the Alki UCC opens its doors for a Pickup Choir at 9 AM. Individuals of all ages and abilities are welcome to learn a new song, specifically an abridged version of “Grace,” which intertwines “Amazing Grace” with the traditional Scottish folk tune, “O Waly Waly.” No prior commitment to join the choir is required, and attendees are encouraged to come as they are. To participate, simply show up or RSVP via email to the Music Director, Daniel Self.

Moving on to social games, the American Mah Jongg meet-up welcomes players of all experience levels from 9:30 AM to 11:30 AM at The Missing Piece, located at the intersection of 35th and Roxbury.

From 10 AM to 2 PM, the West Seattle Nursery will host a drop-in event for the Washington Bee Atlas project. Participants will learn about Washington’s bees and the ongoing efforts to map and identify them. Volunteers are always welcomed and encouraged to get involved.

Another great way to enjoy the sunshine is by visiting the West Seattle Farmers’ Market, which will be bustling from 10 AM to 2 PM. Located on California between Oregon and Alaska, the market offers a diverse selection of summer produce, including stone fruits, berries, greens, as well as baked goods, cheeses, meats, and much more. Additionally, Master Gardeners will be present at the market to answer any gardening queries from 10 AM to 2 PM.

While in The Junction, don’t miss the Sundays in the Alley event, taking place from 10 AM to 3 PM in the alley behind Carmilia’s boutique at 4528 California SW. This gathering features food, music, and fun for everyone.

At 10 AM, those in need of solace can participate in the Summer Grief Walk, starting from the Hinds entrance of Schmitz Preserve Park. This free event is organized by Listening to Grief, providing a supportive environment for attendees.

A highlight for today is the Alki Beach Pride Kickoff event. The celebration includes a motorcycle ride led by Dykes on Bikes and a flag unfurling on the beach. Participants are invited to gather at Blue Moon Burgers by 10:30 AM for the festivities. The motorcycle ride begins at 11 AM from the Marination Ma Kai parking lot, with a casual route through local streets before arriving at Alki Beach. Observers are encouraged to join in holding the giant pride and Trans Flags during the beach ceremony.

For fitness enthusiasts, a free Nia class begins at 10:30 AM at Inner Alchemy Sanctuary/Studio. The first class is free for those who pre-register.

Gaming fans can visit Fourth Emerald Games for Cozy Gaming Sundays, running from 11 AM to 5 PM on the second and fourth Sundays of each month. Meanwhile, families can enjoy the Highland Park Spraypark, open daily from 11 AM to 8 PM.

For a delightful afternoon activity, the Kids’ Tea Party will take place from 11 AM to 1 PM at West Seattle Mercantile. Interested parties should check in advance for available spots and register accordingly.

The West Seattle Tool Library will open for business from 11 AM to 4 PM, providing residents the opportunity to borrow tools for home projects. Located on the northeast side of Youngstown Cultural Arts Center, this resource supports the community by encouraging DIY endeavors.

Activism is also on the agenda, as West Seattle Resists hosts a Sunday sign-holding event from 11:30 AM to 1:30 PM at The Junction(California/Alaska). This is an opportunity for those passionate about social issues to express their views.

As temperatures rise, Colman Pool at Lincoln Park will be open for swimming from noon to 7 PM, featuring heated salt-water options. Two wading pools at Lincoln Park and EC Hughes are also set to be open, encouraging family fun in the water during the hours of noon to 7 PM.

A reminder to enthusiasts: Alki Point Lighthouse Tours have concluded for the year, with no more tours available as informed previously.

For a relaxing afternoon, visitors can check out the Welcome Road Winery, which is open from 2 PM to 5 PM. This West Seattle tasting room allows visitors to enjoy the summer ambience while sipping on fine wines.

Music lovers can enjoy a concert by the EUROPA Ensemble at St. John the Baptist Episcopal Church at 3 PM. This concert, part of the Music Northwest Concert Series, will showcase Mendelssohn’s C Minor Piano Trio, alongside works from Sergei Prokofiev.
