Third Annual On My Relations Celebration to Showcase Diverse Indigenous Performers

The Levitt Pavilion is set to host the exciting third annual On My Relations Celebration this Friday, an event dedicated to celebrating Native and Indigenous culture through music and performance.

This free, all-ages festival features a stellar lineup of diverse performers, including local favorites and artists from across the Americas.

Helen Gover appeared on KGNU’s Keith Colligan show to share insights into this year’s celebration, emphasizing the rich mix of cultures represented at the event.

The celebration will kick off with Cherokee Social, a band based in Denver, followed by local DJ Naisha, also from the area.

Highlighting the event will be Natasha Fisher, a First Nations artist coming from Canada, and the headliner, FIA, who brings a blend of Hawaiian and Samoan culture to the stage.

This mix of artists promises to deliver an exciting array of musical styles, showcasing the beauty and diversity of Native and Indigenous music.

In addition to the performances, attendees can look forward to a vibrant festival atmosphere, which includes a vendor village featuring various local artisans, alongside resource booths from local Native organizations.

Festival-goers will also have the opportunity to enjoy a variety of food options from food trucks, including the popular Native tacos from Marie Yellow Hawk and burgers served by another vendor, Cavage.

The celebration incorporates traditional performance art as well, featuring two dance groups: Indigenous 5280 Corp., renowned for their traditional Native American dances, and the Kalama Dancers, who will highlight traditional Hawaiian dance forms.

This family-friendly event invites all ages to join in the festivities, and attendees can take comfort in the fact that no admission fee is required to enter the venue.

Gover underscored the importance of community involvement and fun, along with the opportunity to learn about Native and Indigenous cultures through various forms of artistic expression.

Moreover, the On My Relations Celebration serves as a vital fundraiser for Rock Res, a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing music camps for Native youth in South Dakota and Minnesota, aimed at nurturing the next generation of Indigenous musicians.

The initiative highlights the significance of supporting Native youth and fostering their talents in a culturally rich environment.

The festivities provide a unique space for families to bond while engaging with cultural traditions through music, dance, and art.

Concert-goers will not only enjoy the entertainment but will also contribute to a greater cause that uplifts Indigenous communities across the region.

As the date approaches, excitement is building for what promises to be an unforgettable celebration of culture, community, and creativity.

For anyone interested in attending, it is best to arrive early to secure a good spot, as this event is expected to attract a diverse crowd eager to partake in the beauty of Native and Indigenous artwork and performances.
