In a critical move to mitigate impending cuts from the Trump Administration, San Diego County Board of Supervisors Chair Terra Lawson-Remer and Vice Chair Monica Montgomery Steppe have proposed utilizing the county’s reserves.
This initiative aims to safeguard nearly 400,000 residents from losing health care and 100,000 from potentially losing food assistance.
Lawson-Remer emphasized the urgency of the proposal, stating, “We can’t let San Diego be dragged into a fiscal storm by Washington.”
She described the initiative as a vital bridge that would provide immediate support for health care, food, and public safety while working toward long-term solutions.
