Reporters in this role will be responsible for producing stories for multiple platforms, including newscasts, the station’s website, and a 24/7 streaming service.

Candidates will utilize digital electronic cameras, consumer-grade and prosumer camera equipment, mobile phones, and non-linear desktop editing software.

Strong storytelling capabilities are vital as reporters will be expected to pitch original story ideas and cultivate community contacts.

There is also an expectation for anchor/reporters to maintain an active presence on social media, further engaging audiences online.

Representing KGO at community events, promotional activities, and speaking engagements will be part of the role’s responsibilities.

This position is governed by the Company’s collective bargaining agreement with SAG-AFTRA.

Interested applicants must meet several critical qualifications, which include a minimum of five years of experience in a top 50 market.

Candidates must exhibit exceptional writing skills, sound news judgment, and ethical decision-making capabilities.

An ability to shoot and edit video stories for both linear and digital platforms on non-linear editing systems is essential.

Proficiency in using handheld prosumer and consumer cameras is also expected to ensure high-quality content production.

Successful candidates will have superior on-camera presentation skills.

While bilingual skills are appreciated, particularly in the San Francisco Bay Area, they are not mandatory.

A bachelor’s degree is a required educational background, with a preference for degrees in Journalism or Communications.

The hiring range for this critical position in San Francisco is between $90,948 and $208,000 annually, based on a standard 40-hour work week.

The actual starting salary will consider factors like internal equity and the candidate’s experience and skills.

Additional compensation may include bonuses or long-term incentives, alongside comprehensive medical and financial benefits, contingent on the level and role offered.
