CHICAGO (March 31, 2025) – The U.S. Women’s National Team (USWNT) is gearing up to face Canada in the highly anticipated Allstate Continental Clásico on July 2 at Audi Field in Washington, D.C. The match is set to kick off at 7:30 p.m. ET and will be broadcasted on TNT, truTV & Max, as well as Universo & Peacock in Spanish. Fans can also catch the action on the radio via Westwood One Sports.
This matchup features two of the top women’s soccer countries in the Concacaf region and takes place in the nation’s capital just prior to the July 4 holiday. Notably, this will be the first Allstate Continental Clásico featuring the USWNT, as the previous two editions of the event have been exclusive to matches involving the U.S. Men’s National Team (USMNT).
The contest against Canada will mark the third game of a three-match FIFA window for the USWNT. Prior to the clash with Canada, the team will play two games against the Republic of Ireland. The first match is scheduled for June 26 at DICK’s Sporting Goods Park in Commerce City, Colorado, at 7 p.m. MT / 9 p.m. ET, and will be available on TBS, truTV, and Max, alongside Spanish broadcasts on Universo & Peacock. The second game is set for June 29 at TQL Stadium in Cincinnati, scheduled for 3 p.m. ET across TNT, truTV, Max, Universo & Peacock, with radio coverage on Westwood One Sports.
In 2024, the USA faced Canada twice, with both encounters ending in a 2-2 tie. On both occasions, the matches proceeded to penalty kicks, with the USA emerging victorious in both shootouts. This upcoming match will represent the 67th meeting between the two neighboring countries, with the USA having played Canada more than any other opponent in its history.
USWNT head coach Emma Hayes commented on the significance of the match saying, “Canada is a top team and this match is worthy of the Allstate Continental Clásico.”
She continued, “As this game will end a three-match window, we’ll get a good chance to see our whole roster in training and hopefully game action before selecting a team to start in Washington, D.C. The Spirit fans have been fantastic supporting their team and we’re looking forward to them coming out to create an electric atmosphere for this game as well.”
Audi Field serves as the home ground for the National Women’s Soccer League’s Washington Spirit. The Spirit is owned by Michele Kang, who made headlines last November with a historic $30 million donation to U.S. Soccer— the largest ever given to the Federation’s women’s and girls’ programs, which will be disbursed over the next five years. The Spirit’s roster boasts numerous players currently in the USWNT player pool.
As an annual event, the Allstate Continental Clásico has historically featured U.S. Soccer hosting a leading opponent from North, Central, or South America. This matchup will mark the inaugural occasion in which the USWNT competes in the Continental Clásico series, as the previous matches were held for the USMNT. Allstate has emphasized the importance of advancing soccer in the U.S. and ensuring the sport’s future. The company has partnerships with U.S. Soccer, Major League Soccer (MLS), Sueno Alianza, and Black Star, all aimed at fostering soccer in diverse communities across the country.
In recent history, the USA played at Audi Field last year in a match just before the 2024 Olympics; however, that encounter ended in a 0-0 tie against Costa Rica, despite the USA controlling much of the game. This match will mark the third time the USWNT has played at Audi Field, whereas they have visited Washington, D.C. a total of 12 times, with the earlier ten matches taking place at the now-closed RFK Stadium.
The USA holds a formidable record against Canada, standing at 53 wins, four losses, and nine ties throughout their all-time encounters. The connection between the USA and Canadian women’s soccer teams runs deep, with most players from both teams having attended colleges in the United States or playing in the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL).
This upcoming match will be significant as it is the USA’s first encounter with Canada under the leadership of head coach Casey Stoney.
