Boyd Gaming to Launch Cadence Crossing Casino in East Henderson by Mid-2026

Boyd Gaming is poised to capitalize on the burgeoning residential growth in East Henderson with its new project, Cadence Crossing, slated to open in mid-2026.

This master-planned community not only presents an opportunity to serve current residents but also to cater to the expanding population extending from Cadence to Lake Las Vegas.

The introduction of this modern property offers a more upscale option compared to the older establishments situated along Boulder Highway.

It also comes as a fresh alternative for those who frequented Fiesta Henderson, which was closed by Station Casinos in 2020, located on West Lake Mead Parkway.

Cadence Crossing aims to replace Boyd Gaming’s Jokers Wild Casino, which will continue to operate during the construction phase.

Previously known as the Cattle Baron, Jokers Wild was revamped by Boyd Gaming when it acquired the property, reopening in 1993.

Currently, the 24,000-square-foot Jokers Wild features slightly over 300 slot machines and two restaurants.

In contrast, the upcoming Cadence Crossing will house 450 slot machines without any table games initially.

A variety of food and beverage outlets are planned to serve the nearby neighborhoods, although specific options have yet to be disclosed.

Boyd Gaming anticipates that the modernized experience will attract new customers who may not have previously visited Jokers Wild.

Cadence itself boasts approximately 5,000 homes, with projections indicating that this number could more than double upon full build-out.

Recently identified as the No. 3 master plan in the nation based on sales in 2024, Cadence is part of an expanding East Henderson that includes Lake Las Vegas, which no longer has a casino.

David Strow, Boyd Gaming’s spokesperson, highlighted the significant customer base that Cadence provides, stating they aim to enhance customer experiences in the area.

“We’re going for an experience that allows us to grow our customer base, and that’s a significant customer base we will be drawing from and hopefully throughout that part of Henderson,” Strow remarked.

The new Cadence Crossing will be developed adjacent to Jokers Wild, allowing for substantial expansion potential as the surrounding area grows.

Strow explained, “We not only have the existing site, but once Jokers Wild’s building is demolished we have additional acreage to develop.”

Plans for Cadence Crossing indicate it will initially be built with sufficient space for a hotel, expansive casino area, and additional restaurants as Cadence develops.

Site preparations are already underway, with actual construction expected to begin imminently.

Boyd Gaming’s last casino project within Las Vegas was the Stardust on the Strip, which was sold in 2013 and eventually transformed into Resorts World Las Vegas in June 2021.

Strow drew comparisons to their successful development endeavors by noting the Treasure Chest Casino near New Orleans, where the old riverboat casino was successfully replaced with a land-based casino including additional gaming and dining options.

That project has surpassed performance expectations since its opening in June.

Strow’s commitment to the new Cadence Crossing development reflects optimism about the area’s growth potential, urging that the evolution of their properties does attract customers.

Boyd Gaming’s most recent completed development was in the South Valley, known as the South Coast, which was later sold and renamed South Point.

“There’s nothing in terms of new ground-up development that we’ve announced,” Strow clarified.

However, ongoing improvements at the Suncoast in Summerlin are underway, including a new sportsbook and a complete remodel of the casino floor to modernize the facility for today’s customers.

The Gold Coast, also owned by Boyd Gaming, has recently completed remodeling 700 hotel rooms, and renovations for The Orleans—housing more than 1,800 hotel rooms—are scheduled for completion in 2026.

In addition to these projects, Boyd Gaming is revitalizing existing properties, such as the Fremont Hotel & Casino, which has expanded its gaming spaces and added a food hall, and renovations at the Main Street Station in downtown Las Vegas.

Boyd’s investment and renovations come amid increasing competition in the industry, especially with Station Casinos’ recent opening of the Durango Casino & Resort in December 2023.

Station Casinos also plans to build additional casinos near the South Point and in Inspirada, located in west Henderson.

Nevertheless, Strow noted that Boyd Gaming focuses on controlling their own efforts.

“We understand that Las Vegas is a very competitive market,” he stated.

“If we want to keep customers coming back and attract new customers, we have to offer them a reason to come back and visit us.”

He concluded, “That’s what motivates our property investments. Stay tuned. We will continue to look for opportunities to make further improvements to our properties.”
