Top hospitality and tourism employers in the region are eagerly anticipating the opportunity to connect with hundreds of job seekers at Meet Boston’s upcoming annual Regional Career Fair on April 29.
Meet Boston is the primary organization responsible for bringing meetings, conventions, and tourism-related business to the area.
As a partnership organization, Meet Boston collaborates with over 1,000 partners across the greater Boston region and New England, working to drive a robust visitor economy while promoting equity within the sector.
The organization is dedicated to delivering inclusive programs and services designed to enhance the local economy by uniting a diverse range of community stakeholders around the opportunities, experiences, and energy that define the destination and the visitor journey.
On April 29, the free career fair will take place at the Hyatt Regency Boston from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., with registration open to all.
The event will commence with remarks from Conan Harris, Principal and Founder of Conan Harris & Associates, Martha J. Sheridan, President and CEO of Meet Boston, Dan Donahue, Meet Boston Board Chair and President of the Saunders Hotel Group, as well as other dignitaries.
Last year’s event saw participation from more than 100 employers, and there are expectations for even more businesses to sign up this year, representing various sectors including hotels, restaurants, casinos, entertainment venues, sports teams, destination management companies, tourism attractions, and transportation.
Sheridan emphasized that workforce development within the hospitality and tourism sector is crucial to Meet Boston’s mission, prompting them to launch their own career fair four years ago.
“Along with our partner Conan Harris and Associates, we have created an event that has become an important recruitment tool for the industry,” she said.
Some of the employers expected this year include Boston Duck Tours, Boston Hidden Gems, Lucky Strike Fenway, The Langham Hotel, Mecha Noodle Bar, View Boston, UMass Amherst, Dnata Catering, and many more.
“The opportunities run the gamut from tours and attractions to hotels to restaurants and more.
They also represent multiple neighborhoods in Boston and other parts of the Greater Boston area and the Commonwealth,” Sheridan added.
The event aims to provide job seekers with networking opportunities among top hospitality and tourism employers, allowing them to explore exciting career options.
It is open to job seekers and students across all experience levels, including internships, entry-level, full-time and part-time positions, as well as individuals coming from trade schools, certificate programs, or colleges.
Attendees will also have the chance to receive free headshots complete with hair and makeup, network with industry professionals, schedule on-site job interviews, and participate in professional development workshops.
Workshops offered include “Excelling in Customer Service: Insights from Hospitality & Tourism Experts,” which runs from 12:30 p.m. to 1:15 p.m., and “Charting Your Course: Navigating the Path from Entry-Level to Leadership in Hospitality & Tourism,” scheduled from 1:30 p.m. to 2:15 p.m.
For this year’s career fair, Meet Boston has re-partnered with Conan Harris & Associates to execute broader workforce development and supplier diversity initiatives.
Conan Harris and Associates connects community-based organizations with partnerships and resources from various sectors, including nonprofit, private, and public sectors.
As a certified minority business enterprise, they provide services that aim to bridge the social, economic, and racial divide faced by disenfranchised communities in areas such as health, education, housing, and workforce development.
Their work promotes inclusion, diversity, and social change through strategic planning, workforce development, community relations and engagement, executive coaching and training, and capacity building services.
Harris expressed confidence that this year’s career fair would match or exceed last year’s success, which attracted a remarkable number of professionals seeking new career opportunities.
“Boston’s vibrant hospitality and tourism sector continues to thrive as the city’s third-largest industry, and this career fair represents one of the many ways Meet Boston champions career opportunities and growth for highly qualified individuals from diverse ethnic backgrounds and communities,” he said.
He expressed excitement about partnering with Meet Boston again for the event.
“We’re thrilled to partner again with Meet Boston to host another successful career fair connecting diverse job seekers with employers looking to build a more inclusive and representative workforce.
This opportunity allows for networking and direct interaction, enabling candidates to showcase their skills while finding opportunities,” Harris added.
He noted that the career fair allows candidates to present their distinct perspectives and skills to companies that are eager to find qualified talent.
“Employers attending these events are searching for top-notch candidates who can bring fresh ideas and contribute to an inclusive work environment,” he stated.
Sheridan emphasized the importance of this career fair to connect prospective employees with leading hospitality businesses in Greater Boston, aiming to create more equity, access, and opportunities within the travel industry.
“Workforce development within the tourism and hospitality sector is part of our mission at Meet Boston, ensuring our visitor economy remains robust.
The travel and hospitality sector is booming in Greater Boston, and there are hundreds of open positions to fill, especially as we approach 2026, when our region will host major events, including FIFA World Cup 2026, Massachusetts 250 celebrations, Tall Ships, and more,” she concluded.
