Warm and Windy Weather Forecast Ahead of Exciting Houston Events

The weather forecast for the coming days is shaping up to be warm and windy, creating an active atmosphere leading up to Easter Sunday, which may bring rains.

With the MS 150 and IRONMAN Texas events on the horizon, planned for the weekend of April 26, thousands will be taking part in outdoor activities that rely heavily on favorable weather conditions.

The MS 150 ride will take place on Saturday while transitioning from Houston to LaGrange, and then from LaGrange to College Station on Sunday, respectively.

Simultaneously, IRONMAN Texas will unfold as a triathlon event involving swimming, running, and cycling around The Woodlands on Saturday.

As we look ahead to next weekend, indications suggest that rain chances will decrease to about 20 percent or less after an active week of weather.

The forecast for next weekend is still tentative, but there is currently no indication of a cool front disrupting the warmer temperatures, which are expected to linger in the mid-80s.

Unfortunately for the triathletes, the anticipated humidity levels will be higher, implying that dewpoints may not dip into the comfortable 50s—an indicator of a more muggy atmosphere for athletes participating in these events.

Winds are expected to be coming from the south or southeast, but the intensity of these winds remains uncertain at this stage.

Nonetheless, stronger winds could assist those participating in the MS 150 ride, providing a helpful tailwind for portions of the cycling route across the region.

Today, Thursday, temperatures across Houston are starting in the upper 60s, a comfortable range that complements accompanying dewpoints.

Temperatures are expected to climb into the mid-80s by the afternoon under partly sunny skies, although brisk winds from the south will be noticeable throughout the day.

Forecasts indicate strong gusts could reach up to 30 mph and possibly higher today, tomorrow, and Saturday.

Tonight, lows are predicted to hover around 70 degrees, leading into another warm day ahead on Friday.

As for Friday, the forecast suggests more clear skies early on, but clouds are expected to move in during the afternoon or evening.

Depending on cloud cover, high temperatures could reach upwards of the upper 80s, with some locations possibly pushing the limits to 90 degrees.

Southerly winds will again present breezy conditions across the area.

Coastal regions may see some light showers later in the evening, while the warmth is likely to continue through the night.

Looking to Saturday, cloudy and humid conditions are on tap, with high temperatures similar to those on Friday—predicted to be in the mid- to upper-80s range.

Rain chances for coastal areas are projected to remain low, while the likelihood for inland regions drops down to about 10 percent or less.

During the nighttime hours, rain chances could see a slight uptick, signaling a shift as Easter Sunday approaches.

Easter Sunday is expected to be a key day, marked by an approaching front that heightens the chances of rain showers to 50 percent or higher.

Forecast models are currently dishing out varied forecasts, with predictions for a mix of thunderstorms potentially impacting areas of east, northeast, or central Houston.

The speculative nature of Sunday’s weather reflects the uncertainty often felt when opening an Easter egg—where the contents might surprise you in unexpected ways.

The expectation is that most areas will likely experience light rain during the morning hours, with stronger potential for rainfall and thunderstorms cropping up in the afternoon and evening.

To brace for the day, it is anticipated that many parts of Houston could see accumulated rainfall of about a quarter of an inch at minimum, but localized areas may face more substantial totals.

Highs on Sunday are projected to remain steep in the mid-80s under humid conditions.

As for next week, the aforementioned approaching front is predicted to move into the Houston area before gradually weakening.

Consequently, slightly cooler weather may herald the night on Sunday or into Monday.

Chances for rain appear to drop in the following days before creeping back up by Wednesday or Thursday of next week.

With some optimism, it seems plausible that by the end of next week, areas could receive 1 to 2 inches of rainfall, aiding in maintaining greener surroundings.

Looking forward, temperatures are expected to stay within the 80s alongside the notable humidity throughout the week.
