Eclectic Architectural Showcase at the 17th Annual White Rock Home Tour

The 17th annual White Rock Home Tour is set to take place on April 26-27, presenting an exceptional array of architectural styles across six homes that celebrate diversity in design and personality.

Nestled within the scenic White Rock Lake area in East Dallas, these homes express a unique blend of Mid-Century Modern elegance and contemporary innovation, offering visitors a glimpse into the creativity that characterizes the neighborhood.

Chanda Rousseau, vice president of RJA Construction LLC and this year’s chair of the White Rock Home Tour, expressed excitement about the upcoming event.

“We are thrilled to recount the incredible journey of the White Rock Home Tour committee,” Rousseau stated. “Guided by the devoted leadership of enthusiastic volunteers, this team has diligently collaborated to craft a remarkable event that highlights the beauty and creativity of our community’s homes.”

Among the featured homes on this year’s tour are two Mid-Century Modern designs that embody timeless elegance.

Visitors will discover the inspiring works of Ju-Nel and Donald Speck, where form meets function in a harmonious blend. The Ju-Nel home is located on Vinemont, while the Donald Speck residence is on Rogue Way and is sponsored by Miranda Stauber Home — Real Estate and Design.

In addition to Mid-Century styles, the tour will showcase a range of innovative designs.

A multi-generational home on Peavy Avenue, sponsored by New Leaf Custom Homes, has been crafted as a modern sanctuary that promotes connectivity, vibrant colors, and comfortable living.

Another highlight is a Little Forest Hills renovation located on Santa Clara, which lovingly honors the character of the neighborhood. This charming transformation is sponsored by David Collier Realtor Group.

Attendees will also explore a transitional new build on Yosemite, thoughtfully designed to facilitate aging in place while offering breathtaking views of the creek and surrounding nature. This home is sponsored by Jennifer Price, Realtor — Heather Guild Group/Compass.

Additionally, a contemporary renovation and addition located on Bridget is featured.

This airy, light-filled space has been upgraded to meet the demands of modern family life and is sponsored by McBride Booth Real Estate.

Rousseau emphasizes that the homes on this year’s tour showcase not only innovative architecture but also actively contribute to the enhancement of the surrounding community.

As in previous years, proceeds from the White Rock Home Tour will benefit DISD’s Hexter Elementary, reinforcing the positive impact on the community.

The tour’s founding can be traced back to 2006 when a group of parents, whose children attended Hexter, came together to celebrate the works of two notable Dallas architects from the 1950s who contributed to the Mid-Century Modern aesthetic of the White Rock Lake area.

Christine Rogers, the tour’s founder, noted, “The White Rock Home Tour was conceived to celebrate the untold story of two up-and-coming Dallas architects from the 1950s whose Mid-Century Modern home designs shaped the northeast side of White Rock Lake.”

According to Rogers, this event fosters a gathering of individuals who share an appreciation for good design, a love for White Rock Lake, and a commitment to supporting thriving neighborhoods and the schools serving them.

Rousseau added, “I take pride in standing with these accomplished individuals as we commemorate a truly outstanding year. Together, we are nurturing a sense of community and inspiring admiration for architectural artistry while raising essential funds for Hexter Elementary.”

With a goal to raise $100,000, proceeds from the tour will directly benefit the students and teachers at Hexter Elementary.

These funds aim to bridge budget gaps and provide essential materials and programs that may otherwise be inaccessible due to financial constraints.

Attending the White Rock Home Tour not only allows guests to appreciate the artistic and architectural achievements of the area but also supports a worthy cause that enhances the educational experience for local students.

Tickets for the tour are priced at $35 per person for those aged 13 and up, with children 12 and under admitted free.

Tickets can be purchased at WRHomeTour.com.

Join the community in this celebration of architectural creativity while contributing to the betterment of local education.
