In a significant announcement, Senator Tommy Tuberville has appointed 21 young Alabamians to various prestigious U.S. service academies, marking an important step in their military careers.
“America’s national security depends on brave young men and women who answer the call to serve in our armed forces,” Tuberville stated proudly.
He emphasized that Alabama will be well-represented in the military service academies for the Class of 2029, showcasing the state’s commitment to nurturing future leaders in the military.
The appointees consist of students from across Alabama, representing their communities and their families with honor and dedication. The following students will attend the United States Naval Academy:
– Joshua Robert DeFour from Madison, AL, a graduate of Sparkman High School, son of Robert and Mary DeFour.
– Hagen Kristopher Holley from Hoover, AL, a Spain Park High School graduate, son of Steve and Ramona Holley.
– Natalie Holland McCabe from Tuscumbia, AL, who attended Muscle Shoals High School, daughter of Trip and Jill McCabe.
– Millicent Elizabeth McCormick from Pelham, AL, a graduate of Pelham High School, daughter of Ronald and Amanda McCormick.
– Ellen Mary Vegerita from Brownsboro, AL, a Huntsville High School alumna, daughter of Frank and Christian Vegerita.
– Madison Lydia Walz from Auburn, AL, who graduated from Auburn High School, daughter of Paul and Heather Walz.
– George Austin Wright from Demopolis, AL, a Demopolis High School graduate, son of Hess and Carrie Wright.
For the United States Military Academy, the following students have received appointments:
– Matthew James Buhl from Harvest, AL, a student at Westminster Christian Academy, son of Joshua and Rachel Buhl.
– Jackson Best Cook from Mountain Brook, AL, a Mountain Brook High School graduate, son of Jackson and Catherine Cook.
– Cooper Daniel Gillis from Birmingham, AL, a Homewood High School graduate, son of Brent and Brooke Gillis.
– Aiden Elliot Harkey from Dothan, AL, who graduated from Slocomb High School, son of Kathi Crick.
– Daniel Clark Hill II from Daphne, AL, a Daphne High School graduate, son of Daniel and Linda Kay Hill.
– Charles Hillman Jacobs III from Decatur, AL, a graduate of Providence Classical School, son of Charles and Christy Jacobs.
– Aaron Jacob Lee from Orange Beach, AL, a student of Plano West Senior High in Texas, son of Larry and Heidi Lee.
– William McCarton Mitchell from Huntsville, AL, a student at the Alabama School of Cyber Technology & Engineering, son of Thomas and Irene Mitchell.
– Thomas B. Sigler from Madison, AL, a Bob Jones High School graduate, son of Jason and Brooke Sigler.
– Emily Chambers Spooner from Vestavia Hills, AL, who graduated from Vestavia Hills High School, daughter of Alan and Melanie Spooner.
Additionally, the United States Air Force Academy will welcome these students:
– John David Dallas from Auburn, AL, a graduate of Auburn High School, son of Doug and Heather Dallas.
– Kenneth Lee Jimmerson Jr. from Montgomery, AL, a student of Brewbaker Technology Magnet High School, son of Kenneth Sr. and Michelle Jimmerson.
– Jack Messervy from Owens Cross Roads, AL, a Huntsville High School graduate, son of Chris and Kim Messervy.
– Richard Dean Rutledge III from Albertville, AL, a Plainview High School graduate, son of Richard D. Rutledge II and Susan Rutledge.
Four students received scholarships to Academy Preparatory Schools, showcasing further opportunities for their military aspirations:
– Maggie Christine Mae Ingram from McCalla, AL, is heading to Marion Military Institute, daughter of Jason and Cheryl Ingram.
– Judd Johnston Lunsford from Huntsville, AL, is also attending Marion Military Institute, son of Bill and Ingrid Lunsford.
– Stanley Hawkins McConnell Jr. from Mobile, AL, will join Marion Military Institute as well, son of Stan and Anna McConnell.
– Cammi Emma Tillery from Enterprise, AL, attending the USMA Prep School, daughter of Robert and Heidi Tillery.
