The collaboration between UTOPIA Fiber and Bountiful City began on May 23, 2023, following an agreement aimed at delivering fiber internet to every address within the city in a span of 36 months. Remarkably, as of May 31, 2025, the project has been fully constructed and is poised to offer residents and businesses access to some of the fastest and most reliable internet speeds available in the nation.
The comprehensive network build encompasses 13,553 homes and 2,987 businesses, amounting to over 16,500 addresses served.

Originally, Bountiful City had not intended to construct its own fiber network. However, ongoing complaints from residents regarding internet service coupled with unfulfilled promises from existing providers prompted city officials to take decisive action. The journey included a thorough feasibility study, an extensive Request for Proposals process, and active community engagement through public hearings.
With two years of extensive evaluation under their belts, Bountiful City made an informed and strategic decision to create its own fiber network, aligning with the city’s tradition of managing and owning its infrastructure.

Bountiful Fiber operates as a city-owned, open access network, providing residents and businesses the ability to choose freely from 14 private, Utah-based internet service providers. This competitive landscape is designed to foster better service and pricing options.
