Tucked away in a nondescript Art Deco building on Hyde Street, Hyde Street Studios has been a cornerstone of San Francisco’s music scene for nearly six decades.
Led by manager Jack Kertzman, the studio is steeped in history, serving as a recording haven for iconic artists ranging from Tupac to the Grateful Dead.
Upon touring the studio, visitors are taken to the echo chamber, a unique space designed to create extraordinary audio effects by preventing the formation of exact corners, resulting in a distinct reverberation.
Kertzman enthusiastically shares the story of David Crosby’s 1971 song
