Upcoming Author Events in Boston: June 15-21

The Boston literary scene is heating up with a series of engaging author appearances scheduled for June 15-21. These events provide both local book enthusiasts and visitors an opportunity to meet a diverse lineup of authors, many of whom will discuss their latest works, host readings, or participate in lively discussions. As always, most events are free of charge, though some do require a ticket purchase or RSVP.

Kicking off the week, on Sunday, June 15, Rhonda DeChambeau will appear at An Unlikely Story in conversation with Elaine Dimopoulos at 4 p.m. discussing her book, ‘Top Heavy’. Tickets for this event are priced at $5.

The following day, Monday, June 16, features a robust schedule of author events. Marcus Rediker will discuss his book ‘Freedom Ship’ virtually at 6 p.m., in a conversation with Lee Blake hosted by American Ancestors; RSVP for this event is required. At 6:30 p.m., Andy Husbands will share insights from his ‘Quick and Easy Burger Cookbook’, moderated by Solon Kelleher at WBUR CitySpace, where general admission is set at $20.

The evening continues with Phil Melanson discussing his book ‘Florenzer’ at 7 p.m. at Harvard Book Store. At Memorial Church, Hakeem Jeffries will share insights from ‘The ABCs of Democracy’, with tickets costing $25.

Meanwhile, Dr. Heather Hirsch will join Dr. Alana Franklin to discuss ‘Unlock Your Menopause Type’ at Hummingbird Books at 7 p.m., with tickets available for $30, which includes a copy of the book.

Tuesday, June 17, presents a broad array of literary discussions. Julia S. Powell will read from ‘The Pillowpuffs’ at 4 p.m. at Beacon Hill Books & Cafe. Concurrently, at 6 p.m. at the Public Library of Brookline, Sara Farizan, Sacha Lamb, and Kasey LeBlanc will discuss their respective works.

Later in the evening, Rosemary Mosco will be at Titcomb’s Bookshop at 6:30 p.m. to discuss ‘The Birding Dictionary’, RSVPs are encouraged for this event. Rob Franklin’s conversation with Saeed Jones about ‘Great Black Hope’ will take place at 7 p.m. at Harvard Book Store. Jeanne Thornton is also set for 7 p.m. at Trident Booksellers & Cafe, where she’ll converse with Calvin Gimpelevich about ‘A/S/L’; this event requires an RSVP.

At An Unlikely Story, Hazel Gaynor will discuss ‘Before Dorothy’ in conversation with Kerri Maher at 7 p.m., with tickets available for $5. Additionally, Stephanie Burt will discuss her ‘Super Gay Poems’ at 7 p.m. at Wellesley Books, and tickets for this event will also be $5.

B. A. Shapiro will engage in conversation about ‘The Lost Masterpiece’ at 7 p.m. at Newtonville Books, while David Shactman will discuss ‘Mortal Choice’ at Hummingbird Books that evening, but does require an RSVP.

On Wednesday, June 18, Richard Russo will present ‘Life and Art’ at the Sandwich Town Hall Auditorium at 6:30 p.m., with tickets priced at $32.23, which includes a copy of the book. Marisa Crane joins Frankie de la Cretaz at All She Wrote Books at 7 p.m. to discuss ‘A Sharp Endless Need’; tickets are $28.69 and include a copy of the book.

A reading by Hannah Brooks-Motl, Kate Colby, and Adam Munsey Tobin will take place at 7 p.m. at Grolier Poetry Book Shop, with in-person tickets available for $10. Jess Walter will discuss ‘So Far Gone’ at 7 p.m. at Harvard Book Store. Dahlia Adler is set for 7 p.m. at Porter Square Books: Cambridge, in a conversation with Jennifer Dugan about ‘Come As You Are’, RSVPs are encouraged.

Tamara Myles will also share insights on ‘Meaningful Work’ at 7 p.m. at Porter Square Books: Boston; an RSVP is necessary for attendance. Finally, at An Unlikely Story, Dave Wedge will converse with Casey Sherman about ‘Blood & Hate’, with tickets available for $5. B.A. Shapiro returns at 7 p.m. at Wellesley Books for another discussion of ‘The Lost Masterpiece’.

The week finishes strong on Thursday, June 19, with Susanna Graham-Pye discussing ‘For the Unremembered’ at Titcomb’s Bookshop at 6:30 p.m., requiring an RSVP. At 7 p.m., Jessica Shattuck will engage in conversation with Tova Mirvis at Porter Square Books: Cambridge, and Griffin Dunne will speak with Andre Dubus III about ‘The Friday Afternoon Club’ at Wellesley Books, with tickets costing $29.87.

On Friday, June 20, Alden Jones, Calvin Gimpelevich, and Sara Orozco will discuss ‘Edge of the World: An Anthology of Queer Travel Writing’ at Brookline Booksmith at 7 p.m.; an RSVP is necessary for this event. Finally, the weekend culminates on Saturday, June 21, with Pam Vaughan discussing ‘Tenacious Won’t Give Up’ at Silver Unicorn Bookstore at 11 a.m. Jina Ortiz will read from ‘Miss Universe’ at 4 p.m. at Just Book-ish; RSVPs are encouraged for this event.
