Exciting Events Unfold in Portland: From Dance Parties to Drag Shows

Portland is buzzing with a lineup of exhilarating events that promise to make this June unforgettable for locals and visitors alike.

Kicking off the festivities is the ‘DANCE: The Tumblr Party’ at the Holocene on Wednesday, June 11th.

If you’re eager to step back into the magic of 2014, this party is a must-attend, allowing you to revel in nostalgia while dancing to tracks by Ke$ha, Lana Del Rey, The 1975, and many more.

With local DJs @hairyboyfriend, @sammyboiyuh, and @plus_________us spinning the tunes from 9 pm to 1 am, the dress code of “hahahaha” sets the tone for a fun-filled night.

The entry fee is $18.87 for those aged 21 and up, and the Holocene is located at 1001 SE Morrison St.

For those interested in something quirky and chic, the Freak Du Chic Drag Show at the Hostel Cafe on Friday, June 13th is the perfect blend of glam and spookiness.

This unique event, themed as Summerween, will feature popular drag performances from talents such as Cochina Concha, Giggles Golightly, and Chakra Stone, among others.

Attendees can indulge in a full, made-from-scratch dinner menu while enjoying local beverages.

The show runs from 6:30 to 9 pm, and tickets are available for $20 at 1810 NW Glisan St.

On the same night, film enthusiasts shouldn’t miss the screening of ‘Hedwig and the Angry Inch’ at Tomorrow Theater.

Set for 7 pm, the event will be hosted by Violet Hex, who will incorporate a few rounds of bingo into the mix, making it an engaging night for all attendees.

The screening invites audiences to embrace Hedwig’s story as an “internationally ignored” but uniquely talented rock diva.

Tickets are priced at $15, and Tomorrow Theater is located at 3530 SE Division St.

Friday, June 13th will also witness the return of the ‘Ally of the Year Pageant’ at Funhouse Lounge from 10 to 11:30 pm.

This entertaining pageant will feature six “allegedly straight” comedians competing in speeches, a fashion show, and a final lip-sync battle, all while supporting a great cause.

The proceeds from this event are designated to assist a local trans drag performer with top surgery funding.

With ticket prices ranging from $10 to $20, attendees can enjoy a fun evening while contributing to an important cause.

For those yearning for a whimsical experience, the Oregon Renaissance Faire is the perfect getaway every weekend until June 29.

Taking place at the Clackamas County Event Center, attendees can immerse themselves in Renaissance-era festivities, from the Feast of Fools to the Saga of the Seven Seas.

The faire runs from 10 am to 7 pm on Saturdays, with tickets starting at $24.82.

Lastly, the Portland Pride Run will be a highlight on June 14th, celebrating LGBTQIA+ pride.

Participants can choose between a 4.25-mile run or a shorter 2.5-mile loop along the waterfront, concluding with snacks, drinks, music, and the iconic Poison Waters to cheer them at the finish line.

Starting at 9 am, those interested can register for this vibrant community event for $50.

From dance parties to drag shows, Portland’s event scene is rich with variety this June, offering something for everyone to enjoy.
