Summer Concerts in North Texas: A Music Lover’s Dream

As summer approaches, North Texas prepares for an exhilarating concert season, showcasing a variety of major acts that grace the metro area with their musical talents.

Despite the sweltering heat and prevalent fire ants, music fans have plenty to celebrate this season.

With over 8 million residents and a rich array of venues, Dallas-Fort Worth stands as a prominent destination for touring artists.

Here’s a curated list of 10 must-see concerts that promise to provide unforgettable experiences across different genres.

Kicking off the list is Alejandro Escovedo, performing on June 22 at the Kessler Theater.

The Texas rocker, known for his poetic lyrics, will present songs from his extensive 50-year career, including tracks from his recent album, ‘Echo Dancing.’

Opening for Escovedo will be the Austin-based psychedelic garage-rock band, the Living Pins.

Next, on June 28, Ashley McBryde takes the stage at Billy Bob’s.

McBryde, often seen as a refreshing throwback to traditional country music, brings grit and authenticity to her performances with hits like ‘Ain’t Enough Cowboy Songs.’

On June 30, fans of ska and reggae can revel in the sounds of the English Beat at the Granada Theater.

Led by founding singer Dave Wakeling, the band is set to deliver a vibrant mix of genres reminiscent of the ’80s.

DJ Culturegang, a local favorite, will open the show.

A legendary double bill is scheduled for July 5 at the Dos Equis Pavilion, featuring Willie Nelson and Bob Dylan.

Though these icons may be past their prime years, their combined legacy is unrivaled, complemented by performances from the Avett Brothers and the Mavericks during the Outlaw Music Festival.

Moving into August, Regina Spektor is set to perform on August 6 at the Majestic Theatre, marking her first appearance in North Texas in over a decade.

Her unique blend of surreal lyrics and dramatic piano-pop melodies has garnered her a dedicated following.

The following night, on August 7, Teddy Swims takes the stage at Toyota Music Factory.

Despite losing the Best New Artist Grammy to Chappell Roan, Swims is a powerhouse vocalist who is sure to have a promising career ahead.

Irish singer-songwriter Cian Ducrot will open for him.

The Weeknd is bringing his moody spectacle to AT&T Stadium on August 27-28.

Accompanied by collaborators Playboi Carti and Mike Dean, the Weeknd stands out for his engaging live performances, despite the ups and downs of his acting career.

Another highlight of the summer concert scene is the Riverfront Jazz Festival, taking place from August 29-31 at Fair Park.

While the Convention Center is under renovation, the festival will move temporarily to indoor venues.

Expect performances from stars like Anthony Hamilton, Tank & the Bangas, Peabo Bryson, and War, ensuring a variety of jazz and soul offerings.

Marking the end of summer festivities is Samia, who will perform on September 11 at Echo Lounge & Music Hall.

The talented Minneapolis artist’s catchy electro-pop tunes often explore deep themes.

Opening the show is Brooklyn-based singer-guitarist Sara L’Abriola, also known as Hank Heaven.

On September 19, Lake Street Dive will bring their soulful sound to the Texas Trust CU Theatre.

With jazz vocalist Rachael Price leading the way, the group is known for their original tunes as well as impressive covers of artists like Shania Twain and the Jackson 5.

With an exciting array of performances lined up, North Texas is undeniably a hub of musical energy this summer.
