On Thursday, a federal appeals court issued a temporary reprieve to the Trump administration by delaying a lower court’s order that would have required the returning of control of the California National Guard to Governor Gavin Newsom.
This ruling came after a California federal judge had granted a temporary restraining order aimed at blocking President Donald Trump’s deployment of National Guard troops during ongoing protests in Los Angeles regarding immigration raids.
The restraining order was set to take effect at noon local time on Friday but was put on hold by a panel of three judges from the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals.
The appeals court has scheduled a hearing for June 17, with two of the judges nominated by President Donald Trump and one by President Joe Biden.
