Iran’s Foreign Minister Accuses US of Complicity in Israeli Attacks on Nuclear Facilities

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has leveled severe accusations against the United States, claiming it is complicit in Israeli attacks on Iran’s nuclear facilities. During a press conference in Tehran, Araghchi called on Washington to publicly condemn these strikes, asserting that the US bears responsibility for the violence.

Araghchi stated, “We have received messages through various channels claiming the U.S. was not involved in the attacks. But we do not believe this, and we possess evidence to the contrary.” He emphasized that the Israeli military operations could not have proceeded without what he referred to as a ‘green light’ from the US.

The minister’s remarks came just two days after Israel conducted an aerial assault on Iranian targets, intensifying tensions in the region. “We have solid evidence indicating that American forces and bases in the region have supported the attacks by the Israeli regime’s military forces,” Araghchi claimed.

He further cited comments from US President Donald Trump, who suggested that the Israeli strikes relied on American military equipment, hinting at future military actions. “Therefore, in our view, the US is a partner in these attacks and it must accept its responsibility,” stated Araghchi, adding that Iran has already targeted locations within Israel in response to the strikes.

Araghchi declared that the recent Israeli aggression signifies a breach of international law, saying, “Israel has crossed a new red line by targeting Iran’s nuclear facilities.” He lamented that this serious violation has been met with indifference by the United Nations Security Council.

The Iranian foreign minister underscored that Iran’s actions are grounded in the principle of self-defense recognized in international relations. “Every country has the legitimate right to defend itself against aggression,” he remarked. Additionally, he referenced an upcoming emergency meeting of the International Atomic Energy Agency’s (IAEA) Board of Governors, hoping for a condemnation of Israel’s actions against Iran’s Natanz nuclear site.

Araghchi reiterated Iran’s stance of pursuing diplomacy and stated that Tehran does not seek to escalate the conflict with Israel or involve other countries. “Basically, we did not initiate this war and we were pursuing diplomacy regarding our nuclear program,” he asserted. He stressed that Iran’s defensive measures are justified, stating, “Therefore, if the aggression stops, our reactions will naturally stop as well.”

Moreover, Araghchi highlighted the impact of Israeli aggression on ongoing indirect nuclear talks between Iran and the US. He accused Israel of obstructing diplomatic efforts, declaring, “It is absolutely clear that the Israeli regime does not want any agreement on the nuclear issue… The aggression against Iran amid nuclear talks demonstrates that the Israeli regime is opposed to any form of negotiation.”

He concluded by urging the US government to denounce Israeli strikes on Iranian nuclear facilities as a demonstration of goodwill and a means to distance itself from the ongoing conflict.
