As summer approaches, Atlanta’s comedy scene is heating up with an exciting lineup of performances from renowned comedians.
Kicking off the series on June 18 is Noah Gardenswartz, a talented performer with roots in Atlanta.
Known for his contributions to ‘The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel’ and appearances on ‘Conan’ and ‘The Late Late Show with James Corden,’ Gardenswartz has built an impressive resume, including a Comedy Central special and multiple chart-topping comedy albums.
Catch his act at the Laughing Skull Lounge on June 18.
Next up on June 19, Indiana comedian Michael Palascak brings his unique humor to the Punchline.
Having made appearances on nearly every late-night show and headlining his own Comedy Central special, Palascak is well-recognized in the comedy realm.
He also gained acclaim as a finalist on ‘Last Comic Standing.’
After Palascak, June 20 will be a comedy trifecta with the Sandy Springs Performing Arts Center launching Funny Fridays with Joel Byars.
This series aims to highlight nationally recognized comedians with local ties, kicking off on June 20.
Improv fans can also look forward to a night of unscripted fun with Colin Mochrie at the Variety Playhouse, where audience suggestions will fuel an entertaining show starting at 7 p.m.
The comedy continues at the Punchline on June 20-21 with Chris Hardwick, widely known for hosting ‘Talking Dead’ and currently leading the game show ‘The Wall.’
On the same dates, fans of ‘Abbott Elementary’ can catch Lisa Ann Walter at Helium Comedy Club.
Walter, famous for portraying Melissa Schemmenti, boasts a rich history in television and film, including notable works like ‘The Parent Trap’ and ‘Bruce Almighty.’
She will perform on June 20 and June 21.
Another highlight for ‘Abbott Elementary’ enthusiasts is Janelle James, who plays the loveable yet narcissistic principal Ava Coleman.
James, an Emmy-nominated star with a SAG award in her belt, will appear at the Atlanta Comedy Theater in Norcross on the same nights.
Adding to the vibrant comedy scene, Carl Payne, recognized for his roles in ‘Martin’ and ‘The Cosby Show,’ is set to grace Atlanta’s Original Uptown Comedy Corner on June 20 and 22.
June 21 sees the arrival of ALOK, a multifaceted performance artist known for their advocacy around gender nonconformity.
Performing their show, ‘Hairy Situation: A Comedy Show,’ at Center Stage, ALOK promises a mix of heart and affirmation, drawing from their impactful career including a special executive-produced by Christopher Guest.
Mark your calendars for June 27-29, as Damon Wayans Jr., the son of comedic legend Damon Wayans, takes to the stage at Helium Comedy Club.
Known for his roles in ‘The New Girl’ and ‘Happy Endings,’ Wayans Jr. enjoys a solid reputation in comedy.
On July 19, Richard Kind will bring tales from his extensive career to the Atlanta Symphony Hall in a performance titled ‘How Not to Be Famous.’
With a career spanning decades, Kind has delighted audiences in popular shows, most recently on Hulu’s ‘Only Murders in the Building.’
July 24 marks a double-feature with James Austin Johnson, a current cast member of ‘Saturday Night Live,’ performing at Helium Comedy Club.

That same evening, Jon ‘Polar Bear’ Gonzalez, known for his viral social media clips addressing the cultural differences in his heritage, will take the stage at the Atlanta Comedy Theater.

On August 16, Russell Peters, one of the top comics recognized by Rolling Stone, will bring his observational humor rooted in cultural experiences to the Atlanta Symphony Hall.

Rounding out the month, DL Hughley, one of the original Kings of Comedy, will be performing at City Winery from August 28-31.
