Arlington Man Sentenced to Nine Years for Domestic Violence Crimes

An Arlington man has been sentenced to nine years in prison following a guilty plea to multiple charges related to the brutal abuse of his girlfriend.

Evan Omar Larsen, 23, was convicted in Loudoun County Circuit Court for his actions, which included abduction, unlawful wounding, and strangulation.

Prosecutors shared that Larsen and the victim were housesitting at her parents’ Sterling home during the spring of 2024 when the incident occurred.

During this time, reportedly after becoming enraged, Larsen violently pushed his girlfriend onto the bed, gripping her by the neck and beginning to strangle her.

According to the prosecution, Larsen repeatedly punched her with significant force, describing the blows as similar to those of a boxer.

In addition to hitting her, he bit her and inflicted further harm by repeatedly striking her body with his fists before throwing her into a wall.

After the assault, prosecutors alleged that Larsen ordered his girlfriend to take a shower to ‘clean up,’ forcefully pulling her into the bathroom and demanding that she undress.

Obeying his commands, the victim stepped into the shower where Larsen turned on cold water, holding the shower nozzle over her head.

In a terrifying turn of events, he directed the shower head so that water flowed into her mouth and, at one point, traced a knife blade down her body while she was in the shower.

Eventually, the victim managed to escape from the home and called 911, seeking refuge at a neighbor’s house.

However, Larsen pursued her, grabbing her in a chokehold and pulling her to the ground as the neighbor opened the door to offer help.

Authorities later discovered that Larsen’s history of abuse began in the summer of 2023 in Richmond.

As part of a plea agreement, charges connected to those incidents were dismissed.

Larsen was on probation for a prior domestic violence conviction involving a different partner when he committed the recent offenses.

A prior sentence of three years was imposed but was entirely suspended at that time.

On May 9, the Arlington County Circuit Court revoked that probation, leading to an additional three years of prison time, making a total of 12 years that Larsen will spend behind bars.

During the sentencing hearing, the victim described the profound impact of the assault, sharing, ‘What he did that night changed me forever … I continually work on rebuilding my life.’

Her testimony was echoed by her father, who said, ‘As a father, how am I supposed to feel … we treated Evan like a son.’

Before finalizing the sentence, Judge James Plowman expressed deep concern over Larsen’s history, describing it as ‘troubling.’

He cited an escalating pattern of violence against women, concluding, ‘I think you are a dangerous person. Dangerous to women, dangerous to young girls.’
