In a significant move to aid students and job seekers, 1-800-TruckWreck, powered by Witherite Law Group, has announced its record-breaking donation for the third consecutive year, aimed at funding educational scholarships and job readiness programs in three major U.S. metropolitan areas: Atlanta, Chicago, and Dallas-Fort Worth.
Since the initiation of its “Making a Difference” Scholarship program, 619 students have benefitted from the financial assistance provided, with 577 scholarships renewed, culminating in more than $2.94 million distributed to those eager to pursue higher education. This generous support comes at a time when many individuals face the daunting financial barriers associated with post-secondary education.
With the rising costs of attending colleges, universities, and vocational training institutions, many students find themselves in a position where higher education seems unattainable.
To combat this issue, 1-800-TruckWreck has partnered with local educational institutions, including Fort Worth ISD, Atlanta Public Schools, Crete-Monee School District, and the Dunbar Vocational Career Academy, to assist students in their academic pursuits.
Amy Witherite, owner of Witherite Law Group and 1-800-TruckWreck, emphasized the importance of financial support for students grappling with the burden of student loans.
“For those who can’t afford college outright, accruing overwhelming student loan debt is a valid concern. Financial assistance can be a lifeline to help students further their education, enhance their skills and better position themselves for jobs of the future,” she stated.
Witherite highlighted the success of the scholarship program over the past 11 years, underscoring its positive impact on thousands of individuals.
The statistics for this year are particularly impressive, with 173 graduating seniors receiving a total of $432,500 in scholarships. Additionally, five students were awarded $12,500 through a special selection process.
Moreover, 179 previous recipients maintaining a GPA of 2.5 or higher and taking at least 12 credit hours will receive $447,500 in renewed scholarships, bringing the total awarded this year to $892,500.
The Dunbar Vocational Career Academy also saw support, with 23 students receiving $57,500, resulting in an overall educational funding total of $950,000 provided by 1-800-TruckWreck this year alone.
GeNaya Hough, a student at Georgia Tech, articulated her gratitude, mentioning how the financial relief from the scholarship has allowed her to engage more deeply in her education and extracurricular activities.
Thanks to the support, she expressed, “The ‘Making a Difference’ Scholarship has truly lived up to its name in my life. It has helped me move through obstacles with confidence and focus on becoming the best version of myself.”
Deona Davis, a student at the University of Georgia, echoed similar sentiments about the transformational impact of the scholarship and the support from Witherite and her team.
“Coming from a community with limited resources for guidance and mentorship, the support I’ve received from Ms. Witherite and her team has been transformative,” Davis stated.
The “Making a Difference” Scholarship, established in 2014, focuses on providing financial assistance to students who demonstrate leadership qualities within their schools and communities.
By investing in education and empowering individuals to pursue their dreams, 1-800-TruckWreck continues to play a vital role in shaping brighter futures for students in Atlanta, Chicago, and Dallas-Fort Worth.
