A New Wave of Protests Planned for July 4 Across the United States

A coalition of activist groups, led by Indivisible, is preparing for a series of protests and boycotts this July 4, opposing the administration of President Donald Trump.

Building on the momentum of the recent “No Kings” demonstrations, which saw over five million participants on June 14, these groups are mobilizing to transform Independence Day into a day of resistance rather than celebration.

The People’s Union USA, known for organizing protests against major retailers, has labeled their initiative as “the most important boycott of the year.”

Participants are urged to boycott parades, fireworks, and corporate spending, focusing instead on staying home and supporting small local businesses.

Key organizer John Schwarz emphasized on Instagram the intent behind the action: “This isn’t about standing in the streets. It’s about pulling away our presence and our dollars.”

In addition to the boycott, other groups such as Women’s March are planning block parties that invite citizens to engage in a variety of activities including building murals, dancing, and sharing food and conversation.

In Illinois, gatherings are scheduled, with one notable meetup at Glenview train station, from 9:15 to 9:40 a.m., before heading downtown for a rally at the federal plaza.

The protests are not limited to pure boycotting. The “No Kings 2.0” rally, organized by Indivisible, will feature signs, speeches, and community mobilization, echoing elements from the previous demonstrations.

A specific protest in Galena is set for July 4 from 11 a.m. to noon, where participants are encouraged to gather along the sidewalk across from Hotel Galena and Farmer’s Guest House.

Additionally, OneNJ7, a division of Indivisible, is organizing a separate rally against President Trump’s proposed “big beautiful bill.” This bill is said to have significant implications for American wallets and healthcare, along with affecting the southern border and national debt.

This protest will take place from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. at the clock tower located at the intersection of Schaumburg and Roselle roads.

Overall, this nationwide mobilization reflects a growing discontent with the current administration as individuals and groups come together to voice their concerns on America’s Independence Day.

The collective action aims to inspire civic engagement and holds the potential for larger conversations about political representation, economic justice, and community solidarity as the country navigates these turbulent times.

As July 4 approaches, many are likely to witness a shift in the traditional celebration towards more political activism and significant displays of dissent across various cities in the United States.
