Weekend Events in Metro Atlanta and North Georgia: Celebrate July 4th with Music, Food, and More

As the July 4th weekend approaches, residents and visitors in metro Atlanta and North Georgia are greeted with a diverse array of events and activities to enjoy. From live music and theatrical performances to family fun and sporting events, there’s something for everyone to celebrate the holiday.

Westies in the City will host a West Coast Swing event at The Interlock in Atlanta on July 4 and 18, where attendees can dance along with instructor Melissa Klein. Tickets start at just $10. On July 5, Gritz & Jelly Butter will take to the stage at St. James Live for two energetic shows, with tickets priced from $35.

For fans of Bollywood, InvAsian at District Atlanta will showcase a Bollywood night on the same day, with tickets available for $15. Summer Saturdays at The Works promises free live music every Saturday in July, with performances lined up from various artists, including the Cody Marlowe Band on July 12.

On July 5, trumpeter Thad Wilson will perform at The Velvet Note in Alpharetta, with tickets starting at $59. Additionally, The Purple Madness, a Prince tribute band, will be performing at the Strand Theatre in Marietta, with tickets priced from $45.

Country music lovers can catch Homegrown: The Zac Brown Band Experience at MadLife Stage & Studios in Woodstock, also on July 5, with tickets from $32. The Brotherhood of Rock Tour featuring Styx, Kevin Cronin, and Don Felder will light up Ameris Bank Amphitheatre on July 6, where tickets start at $30.

Theatrical performances will also be prominent this weekend, with “A Midsummer’s Night Dream” running at the Shakespeare Tavern in Atlanta from July 5 to 27, tickets starting from $20. The Marietta Performing Arts Center will present “Newsies: The Broadway Musical” on July 6-7, with tickets priced between $25 and $30.

Families with young children can enjoy Harold and the Purple Crayon at the Center for Puppetry Arts in Atlanta, which runs through August 3, with tickets available for $15 to $20. The uplifting children’s musical, Milo Imagines the World, is showing at the Alliance Theatre until July 6, with tickets around $25 to $35.

For a mix of magic and humor, magician Sean Ridgeway will be performing at Freedom Brew & Shine in Cumming on July 6, with tickets starting from $15.

Art lovers can explore exciting exhibits this weekend. The Turtles Exhibit at Fernbank Museum, which runs through September 1, includes live turtles with admission starting at $23.95. In addition, the Faith Ringgold Exhibit at the High Museum will feature over 100 works from the artist’s illustrated books and runs through October 12, with tickets starting at $23.50.

Comedy fans won’t be left out this weekend either. Caleb Synan will perform his show “All American Comedy Fireworks” at The Punchline in Atlanta on July 4, with tickets from $37. Comedian Capone, known as the “Gangsta of Comedy,” will be taking the stage at Uptown Comedy Corner from July 4 to 6, with tickets starting at $15. Kevin James Thornton will also be performing at City Winery Atlanta on July 6, bringing his unique comedy perspective on growing up gay in the ’90s. Tickets for his show start at $30.

Families looking for activities will find numerous options. The Mimms Museum of Technology and Art will host a Punch Card Machine Demo on July 5, where visitors can create their own punch card as part of the admission fee.

The Free First Saturday Habitat Hunt at Dunwoody Nature Center invites families to explore animal homes in the forest this weekend at no cost.

On July 5, Peachtree Corners Town Green will screen Spielberg’s beloved film “Hook” during Flicks on the Green, with picnics welcome and free admission.

For children, the Children’s Museum of Atlanta offers Scooby-Doo! Activities through July 31, with creative activities inspired by the iconic character starting at $19.95.

Foodies will also find plenty of events to sink their teeth into. The First Friday Food Fest at Pontoon Brewing will take place on July 5, offering beer, food vendors, live music, and local artisan shopping from 5 to 9 p.m., with free admission.

In downtown Blairsville, Appalachian Roots on July 5 will feature moonshine tastings and a Low Country Boil, along with a free concert by KANSTYX and Cody King.

For sports fans, the AJC Peachtree Road Race on July 4 is a highlight, as it is the largest 10K in the U.S. Registration is required. Baseball fans can catch the Braves playing against the Orioles at Truist Park, with tickets starting at $31.

The FIFA Club World Cup Quarterfinal will see Paris Saint-Germain face off against FC Bayern Munchen at Mercedes-Benz Stadium on July 5, with ticket prices starting at $192.

To join the excitement for the FIFA Club World Cup Quarterfinals, fans can attend the ATL Watch Party at Underground Atlanta, featuring food trucks and giveaways, all free to attend.

Phipps Plaza in Buckhead will host various watch parties for soccer tournaments and tennis matches from now through July 13, with free viewing on the big screen.

On July 6, the Caffeine and Octane Car Show at Town Center at Cobb will exhibit Jeeps and military vehicles, with free admission for car enthusiasts. For those looking to stay active, Zumba on the Green at Pickle and Social in Gwinnett County will take place, providing a high-energy outdoor class for all fitness levels, also free.
