In an exciting move to enhance the arts scene, the city of Chicago is set to unveil a year-long initiative called 100 Free Acts of Theater. This initiative aims to invigorate each of the city’s 50 wards with diverse arts programming, in celebration of Goodman Theatre’s upcoming Centennial 2025/2026 Season.
The initiative is a collaborative effort between the Goodman Theatre and the Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events (DCASE). Starting in late summer, the program will provide free theater performances, workshops, and other related events, ensuring that individuals from all backgrounds and ages can participate and enjoy the arts.
DCASE Commissioner Clinée Hedspeth expressed enthusiasm about this partnership, emphasizing its commitment to fostering inclusive cultural experiences across Chicago. “100 Free Acts of Theater is more than just a performance series—it’s a citywide expression of community,” said Hedspeth. The initiative will be led by Jared Bellot, The Goodman’s Clifford Director of Education and Engagement. Alongside him are Emi Suarez, Artistic Coordinator and Project Manager, and Ericka Ratcliffe, 100 Free Acts Coordinating Producer. Together, they will connect Goodman Theatre with various creative partners and organizations scattered throughout the city.
Each performance or act will be developed in close collaboration with these partner organizations, ensuring that the events align with each group’s mission.
