House of Tangram to Develop Sports-Centric Convention Center and Hotels in Mansfield

Dallas-based developer House of Tangram has obtained a 30-acre site in Mansfield’s ambitious $2.5 billion Staybolt Street District.

The project will feature a state-of-the-art convention center alongside high-tech hotels tailored for sports and athletic use.

Among the highlights is House of Tangram’s Carbon Mansfield, a 288-room hotel touted as the world’s first patented sports-centric hotel specifically designed with athletes and competitive teams in mind.

Utilizing an innovative AI platform, the hotel promises to offer personalized recovery environments, incorporating real-time biometrics and adaptive climate systems customized for each guest’s needs.

Adjacent to the hotel will be the Mansfield Convention Center, which is set to span over 33,000 square feet and will cater to a variety of events, including esports, medical technology showcases, and high-performance gatherings.

“This project is more than just mixed-use,” stated Shawn Ellis, founder and CEO of House of Tangram.

“It’s designed to function as a live-operating system for modern life: reimagined convention centers, hotels integrated with AI, and retail spaces that evolve with culture — think adaptive storefronts and curated brand experiences.”

The proposed hotel and convention center will be located next to a new multisport stadium, which is currently under construction.

This facility will feature 166,000 square feet of space and accommodate approximately 7,000 attendees for various events, including sports and concerts.

Scheduled to open in 2026, the stadium will serve as the home of North Texas SC, the MLS NEXT Pro affiliate of FC Dallas.

REV Entertainment and FC Dallas Management, both affiliated with FC Dallas and part of Hunt Sports LLC, will oversee the stadium’s operations.

Plans are also in place for a dual-branded hotel concept, Cache Legitimate & KUBO, to be built next to the stadium, which promises unique amenities such as robotic bartenders, drone delivery, and immersive media walls.

In addition to the hotels and stadium, the development will comprise Staybolt Street Retail — House of Tangram, featuring over 100,000 square feet of pedestrian-friendly shopping space.

Two residential communities will also be part of the district, with STEAM offering 320 loft apartments complete with rooftop gardens and communal kitchens, while Verona Gardens will feature 400 units benefiting from hydroponics, pet studios, green roofs, and built-in climate intelligence.

House of Tangram expects to break ground on this ambitious project in summer 2026, with a targeted completion set for mid-2028.

Upon full completion, the site will include 750 hotel rooms, over 700 apartment units, 33,000 square feet of convention space, 50,000 square feet allocated for medical offices, and more than 100,000 square feet for retail and dining options.

The Beck Group has been appointed as the project’s development manager and is also one of the general contractors involved.

The Mansfield City Council approved an amended master plan agreement during a meeting on July 28th, 2023, which set a minimum investment requirement of $200 million from House of Tangram and its financial partners.

Mansfield Mayor Michael Evans expressed enthusiasm for the project, emphasizing, “Bringing a hotel concept that focuses on athletes next to our incoming Mansfield Stadium is a home run.”

He highlighted that this innovative development aligns with Mansfield’s vision for economic growth and the creation of a vibrant entertainment district.
