Custom Signage Solutions Flourish in Greater Boston

In 2011, a Massachusetts-based company emerged that has made significant waves in the signage industry. Bluebird Graphic Solutions, headquartered in Woburn, has gained a reputation for producing high-quality, custom-fabricated signs for various institutions across greater Boston and beyond.

Founded by Anthony Clayton, who serves as the CEO, Bluebird operates out of a spacious 15,000-square-foot studio, where a dedicated team of 30 skilled professionals is hard at work.

According to Clayton, the craftsmanship of his team transcends the notion of a simple sign. “It is art,” he emphasizes, highlighting the creativity and detail involved in their work.

The visual impact of Bluebird’s signage can be seen at notable locations such as the Prudential Center, Boston Children’s Hospital, Kendall Square, and Logan International Airport. Their custom solutions cater not just to large corporations, but also municipalities and educational institutions that require distinctive signage.

A standout project that showcases Bluebird’s capabilities is the extensive signage needed for the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority’s (MBTA) new Green Line Extension. Clayton articulates the array of signs they produced, which includes safety signs, code compliance signs with Braille and raised letters, as well as porcelain maps and neighborhood identifiers.

To effectively meet the diverse signage needs of their customers, Bluebird is equipped with a plethora of state-of-the-art tools. Their facilities boast metal fabrication equipment, CNC cutters, 2D machines, flatbed printers, and in-house painting systems, enabling them to tackle a wide range of projects.

Clayton notes that the flexibility afforded by having all these resources in one location is a key factor in Bluebird’s success. “Having all of that in one place allows you to mix and match and create unusual things,” he states.

Since its inception, Bluebird Graphic Solutions has experienced remarkable growth over the past 14 years, a journey that continues to surprise its founder. Clayton acknowledges the role of both effort and fortunate timing in their trajectory. “You know, it takes a lot of luck. It all has to stack,” he reflects on the company’s path thus far.

As the demand for unique and practical signage continues, Bluebird positions itself as a leader in the field, showing that creativity combined with functionality can redefine typical expectations of signage.

With each project, Bluebird Graphic Solutions contributes to the artistic landscape of Boston, reminding us that signs are not just markers but integral elements of the spaces they occupy.
