The Dallas LGBTQIA+ community has a series of vibrant events lined up for the coming weeks, showcasing support, talent, and fun-filled activities for all ages.
One highlight of the season is the Gay Bar Olympics, happening on Sunday, July 27, from 3-7 p.m. at TMC: The Mining Company, located at 3903 Cedar Springs Road. Set to be a lively gathering, the event will also spill into the parking lot behind the Caven Enterprises bars on Cedar Springs Road.
This year’s games will feature a range of competitions, including the popular Pickleball, beer pong, darts, trivia, flip cup, and a Celebrity Dunk Tank. Registration for participants kicks off at 2 p.m., and all proceeds will benefit the 2025 Pride in Dallas Parade, scheduled for September 21. In addition to the Gay Bar Olympics, the week leading up to the event is packed with community gatherings and support groups aimed at connecting LGBTQIA+ individuals and their allies.
Every Wednesday, the Resource Center’s THRIVE program hosts a support group for LGBTQ adults aged 50 and over, meeting at the Resource Center Community Center from 11 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. This initiative is led by interns from the SMU counseling program, providing a warm and welcoming space for the participants. On July 25, a variety of community events will take place, initiating a bustling day of support and celebration. The virtual event “Hopeful Spaces: Support Group for Raising LGBTQIA+ Youth” organized by Dallas Hope Charities offers a platform for parents, caretakers, and allies of LGBTQIA youth from 6-7 p.m., allowing attendees to register through Forms.gle/HzCK67oFPLRitwAGA to obtain meeting links and further information.
Also on July 25, the Cathedral of Hope will celebrate its anniversary from 6-9 p.m. at 5910 Cedar Springs Road. This special occasion will be marked by festivity and community, making it an excellent opportunity for locals to gather and support each other.
Art activism will be celebrated through the paint-and-sip event titled “Paint and Shade: The Stigma,” hosted by Blaq Linq at the Oak Cliff Cultural Center, from 6:30-8:30 p.m. on the same day. For wine enthusiasts, the Disco Wine Train event will take place on July 25, hosted by Trinity Metro TEXRail aboard the Grapevine Vintage Railroad. The following day, July 26, marks another noteworthy event: a free screening of the documentary “Raid of the Rainbow Lounge,” presented by Badge of Pride, CinéWilde, and YesterQueer. This documentary, created by filmmaker Robert Camina, will be shown at the Irving Archives & Museum, followed by a panel discussion featuring prominent local figures at 1:30 p.m. This event is open to the public, contributing to awareness and discussions surrounding LGBTQ history.

The LGBTQIA+ calendar continues with a high energy level into August with several notable events. On August 2, the Cathedral Cabaret will feature a musical show from 6-8:30 p.m. in The Rose Room, located at 3911 Cedar Springs Road. This promises to be a night of entertainment and solidarity.
Furthermore, on August 3, a Celebration of Life for artist Robbie Conover is scheduled from 12-2 p.m. inside the Goodrich Gallery at First United Methodist Church of Dallas, reaffirming community ties in celebration of life and art.
TAG+ (Tyler Area Gays) will host its monthly co-ed dinner on the same evening at Clear Springs, inviting friends and allies to gather without the pressure of covered costs by TAG.
Through August 3, the musical “Everybody’s Talking About Jamie” will be showcased at the Kalita Humphreys Theater, a delightful narrative following a teenager with dreams of becoming a drag queen. Tickets and showtimes are available at UptownPlayers.org.
The Cedar Springs Wine Walk is set for August 7, where participants can enjoy wine samples while shopping along Cedar Springs Road, beginning at 6 p.m. People can purchase a collectible wine glass at the Round-Up Saloon prior to the start of the event.
August will also feature the “Queer Factor!” comedy show at the Dallas Comedy Club on August 7, which promises to deliver laughs and community spirit, as well as Untux: Drag for a Cause on August 9, a drag fundraising event at The Rose Room.
Art lovers should take note of the exhibition “From Fragments to Form: Explorations in Sculptural Constructions” which runs through August 9 at Bath House Cultural Center, featuring work by diverse Texas artists.
For those interested in theater, Uptown Players and Bruce Wood Dance will collaborate for the show “Imagine” on August 9-10, while Turtle Creek Chorale presents “Guys & Dolls” from August 15-17.
August continues loaded with events, including the monthly Gaybingo hosted by Resource Center on August 16, and the Stonewall Democrats of Dallas’ general meeting on August 19 at S4.
Finally, the Plano Symphony Orchestra will present “An Evening with Bernadette Peters” on August 30 at the Meyerson Symphony Center, set to be a spectacular closer for the month.
