Reverie, the Michelin-starred restaurant by acclaimed chef Johnny Spero, is set to serve its final meal on October 4.
Located at 3210 Cherry Hill Lane NW, Reverie opened its doors on October 6, 2018, originally featuring 64 seats.
After a devastating fire and the challenges posed by the pandemic, the restaurant reopened earlier this year with a reduced capacity of 36 seats.
In an emotional message on Instagram, Spero reflected on Reverie’s impactful journey, sharing, “This is meant to be celebratory—so please don’t take it any other way.
Reverie has shaped me in more ways than I can count. It gave me space to grow through some of life’s biggest challenges all at once—becoming a father, opening a restaurant, and giving up alcohol.
It helped me find my voice and define the kind of dining experience I wanted to create—the kind that tells a story, sometimes without needing many words.
I pushed myself to be exactly who I am—not different for the sake of it, but because the food that excited me most was the food I believed in.
As I close this chapter, I’m doing so on my own terms.
Reverie will complete its final menu on October 4, but it will not end quietly.
The restaurant is currently celebrating Vegetable Season through August, featuring one of the most vibrant, focused, and creative menus to date.
September will see the introduction of a final tasting menu that encapsulates everything Reverie has stood for: creativity, connection, and a relentless drive to produce exceptional food.
Spero expressed gratitude to everyone who supported Reverie, saying, “Thank you to everyone who’s walked through these doors—from the Reverie 1.0 crew to the team beside me now.
To Alexis—none of this would’ve happened without you. You’ve raised our three amazing kids with love, patience, and strength while I chased this dream.
Fiona was born just ten days after we opened, and nothing shows how much can change in seven years more than watching all three of them grow up alongside this restaurant.
I’m going out in a blaze of glory—and passing the torch to someone else to continue the story down this alleyway.
In happier news for the Georgetown community, a new preschool is set to open on September 2.
The Georgetown Preschool, located at 1230 31st St. NW #100, is designed for children aged 6 weeks to 5 years, promising a nurturing and inclusive environment conducive to growth, exploration, and thriving.
Founded by a dedicated team of educators and community leaders, the preschool aims to support the whole child through a creative curriculum focusing on play-based learning, early literacy, and social-emotional development.
Small class sizes and highly qualified teachers will ensure individualized attention in a safe, joyful setting.
Founder Farah Kuraishi expressed excitement about the new venture, stating, “We’re thrilled to bring this vision to life in one of D.C.’s most vibrant neighborhoods.
Our mission is to create a space where children feel seen, supported, and inspired while giving families a trusted partner in early education.
Enrollment for September 2025 is already open, with interested families encouraged to visit www.thegeorgetownpreschool.com.
In another local change, Blossom Daily has opened at 3207 M St. NW, taking the place of Bitty & Beau’s.
This new eatery and gift shop offers a variety of hot and cold drinks, grab-and-go foods, and unique gifts, while also embracing a mission of community and connection for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
Most employees at Blossom Daily have an intellectual or developmental disability, contributing their skills to customer service, food and beverage preparation, cashier roles, and promoting merchandise sales.
Director of Operations Jackie Gemenden highlighted the importance of this initiative, saying, “We hope our customers will see the power of work for people with disabilities.
Blossom Daily features distinctive items like cards, candles, and soaps crafted by individuals in the Bloom self-employment program at ServiceSource, along with hand-woven scarves and bags made by artisans with disabilities in the Arlington Weaves program.
Every artisan benefits directly from the sales of their work, receiving 100 percent of the proceeds.
Blossom Daily operates under ServiceSource, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization based in Oakton, Virginia.
Additionally, Bibibop Asian Grill is set to replace Feta Cafe at 2805 M St. NW, continuing the trend of new dining options in the area.
This location has seen various businesses over the years, including Freshbee’s and ShopHouse, and now welcomes Bibibop, expanding the vibrant food scene in Georgetown and its surrounding neighborhoods.
