The Mitchell: A New Luxury Residential Tower Opens in Downtown Atlanta

In a significant step toward transforming Downtown Atlanta, the new residential tower known as The Mitchell is set to officially open its doors on September 15.

Developed by CIM Group and Centennial Yards Company, The Mitchell is the inaugural completed residential structure within the ambitious $5 billion Centennial Yards mixed-use development.

The downtown tower is strategically located at 250 Martin Luther King Jr. Dr. SW and features an impressive 19 stories, encompassing 300,000 square feet dedicated to luxury living.

With a total of 304 modern apartments, The Mitchell offers a diverse range of units, from studios to spacious three-bedroom floor plans.

Many of the residences come equipped with desirable amenities such as walk-in closets, private balconies, and expansive floor-to-ceiling windows that provide breathtaking views of Atlanta’s skyline.

Beyond the residential units, The Mitchell is designed to reflect a sophisticated urban lifestyle, complete with a rich array of top-of-the-line amenities.

Residents will have access to a community pool boasting panoramic views of the downtown skyline, a premium fitness center featuring a barre studio, and co-working spaces equipped with office suites.

The building also encompasses multiple outdoor gathering areas, indoor event spaces complete with a catering kitchen, and a dedicated area/spa for pets.

Additionally, The Mitchell will include approximately 16,000 square feet of ground-floor retail and restaurant space intended to invigorate the street level with ample outdoor patio options.

Excitingly, Khao Thai Isan, a Thai tapas restaurant introduced by the well-known local eatery 26 Thai, is set to occupy 4,730 square feet within the complex.

Further announcements regarding more retail and dining operators are anticipated in the upcoming months.

Conveniently situated near major attractions such as Mercedes-Benz Stadium and State Farm Arena, The Mitchell offers excellent accessibility, being within walking distance of four MARTA stations.

Moreover, it overlooks the emerging Entertainment District at Centennial Yards, benefiting from its closeness to a vibrant mix of community assets.

Nearby cultural and historical attractions include the revitalized South Downtown, Underground Atlanta, and the arts-centric Castleberry Hill district.

The area is also home to prestigious Georgia universities and major tourist spots such as the Georgia Aquarium, World of Coca-Cola, and the National Center for Civil and Human Rights, all contributing to a lively and pedestrian-friendly urban experience.

The naming of The Mitchell pays homage to the historical significance of Atlanta’s Mitchell Street corridor, emphasizing a commitment to the local culture.

Brian McGowan, President of Centennial Yards Company, remarked, “Opening the Mitchell, the first residential tower at Centennial Yards, is a significant step in transforming Downtown Atlanta into a thriving neighborhood.

This community will bring new energy and life to downtown, offering a lifestyle that puts residents at the center of everything Atlanta has to offer.”

An intimate ribbon-cutting ceremony was held on September 4 to celebrate the official opening of The Mitchell, attended by company representatives, city officials, and members of the local community.

This grand opening marks a pivotal milestone in what is regarded as one of the largest and most ambitious city center redevelopment projects in the country.

Spanning a 50-acre site where Atlanta was originally founded, Centennial Yards is undergoing a transformation into a vibrant mixed-use destination that will ultimately feature eight million square feet of commercial and residential space.

Future plans for this expansive development include approximately four million square feet dedicated to retail, entertainment, office, and hotel spaces, alongside about 2,000 new residences and interactive public gathering areas designed to cater to both residents and visitors alike.

Following The Mitchell, The Lofts at Centennial Yards South, which offers 162 units above the Georgia-based brewery Wild Leap, is also part of the residential landscape in the area.

Later this year, the 292-key Hotel Phoenix is expected to open its doors, while projects such as Cosm’s immersive sporting experience slated for 2026 and a 5,300-seat Live Nation venue anticipated for 2027 are also part of the vision.

The master developer of Centennial Yards, CIM Group, aims to create spaces that empower and enrich the community it serves.

Shaul Kuba, Co-Founder and Principal of CIM Group, stated, “The Mitchell residential tower reflects our commitment to creating places that serve and strengthen the community.

At Centennial Yards, we are proud to help shape a neighborhood that celebrates local culture, connects people through public spaces, and supports the everyday lives of Atlantans.”
