Coral Gables Trust Announces Leadership Changes to Enhance Succession Planning and Client Services

Coral Gables Trust, a rapidly expanding trust and wealth management firm based in Florida, has announced significant leadership changes within its senior advisory team.

In a move aimed at reinforcing its succession planning efforts, the firm revealed that Richard DeNapoli, JD, LLM, CFP, has been appointed president while continuing to serve as the chief fiduciary officer.

DeNapoli, who has been with Coral Gables Trust for over a decade, brings more than 22 years of experience in law and trust services.

His extensive background includes decisive leadership, legal expertise, and a strong commitment to nurturing client relationships.

Prior to joining Coral Gables Trust, DeNapoli managed a solo law practice specializing in estate planning and real estate, earning a Master of Law in Estate Planning from the University of Miami.

He also held positions at Northern Trust Company, where he served as a trust and investment officer.

DeNapoli’s professional affiliations include serving as president of the Estate Planning Council of Broward County and on the Trust Executive Committee of the Florida Bankers Association.

His commitment to public service is evident from his role as a Florida Real Estate Commissioner and as a Broward Soil & Water Conservation District Supervisor, in addition to being a State Committeeman for Broward County since 2016.

In a further boost to its leadership team, Coral Gables Trust welcomed Eileen Santana, CFP, as managing director and chief trust officer, while she also retains her position as manager of trust operations.

Santana, who boasts over 27 years of experience in trust and wealth management, is the longest-serving employee at Coral Gables Trust with nearly 20 years of dedicated service.

Her extensive background in the field includes previous work in the International Trust Department of Northern Trust Bank of Florida.

Santana is noted for her strong commitment to client relationships and operational expertise, making her a vital part of the firm’s organizational culture.

Staying within the leadership enhancements, Ivan Shegota, CTFA, AEP, will fill the role of managing director and chief estate services officer while remaining as a senior wealth advisor.

With 26 years of experience in trust administration and estate settlement, including 13 at Coral Gables Trust, Shegota is recognized for his exceptional technical knowledge and client-focused leadership in fiduciary matters.

His impressive career encompasses leadership positions at several prestigious firms, such as Citigroup, Merrill Lynch Trust Company, and Wachovia’s Legacy Management Advisors Group.

Throughout his career, Shegota has shown a strong commitment to both professional and community engagement, serving on the board of directors of the East Coast Estate Planning Council and being a member of the Greater Boca Raton Estate Planning Council.

He holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Florida and completed the Certified Financial Planning Program at Florida State University.

This newly appointed senior advisory team exemplifies Coral Gables Trust’s dedication to providing premium financial services and stewardship for its clients.

The changes reflect a strategic initiative by the firm’s board and senior management to create a robust leadership pipeline while supporting continued growth.

Donald A. Kress will maintain his role as CEO during this transition, ensuring that the company’s vision and direction remain consistent amid the leadership changes.

As Coral Gables Trust aims to adapt and thrive in the evolving wealth management landscape, the expertise and experience of its new leadership team are expected to significantly enhance client service and operational frameworks.
