Celebrate National Dog Month in Philadelphia with Pawsitive Events and Special Menus

August is National Dog Month, and Philadelphia is embracing the joy of pets with a variety of events and special offerings dedicated to our four-legged companions.

From dining experiences that benefit local charities to hotel packages featuring dog-friendly amenities, the city is rolling out the red carpet for dogs all month long.

At White Dog Cafe, the iconic restaurant chain is once again partnering with WMMR’s Preston and Steve for the 8th Annual Dining Out for the Dogs event.

Scheduled for Monday, August 4, starting at 5 p.m., this initiative will raise funds for Alpha Bravo Canine, the city’s first nonprofit focused on providing service dogs to U.S. veterans facing medical and psychological challenges due to active combat duty.

Guests can expect a festive atmosphere across all White Dog locations, complete with puppy-kissing booths and signature shortbread bone-shaped cookies available for purchase at $10 per bag.

The special menu will feature a variety of dishes and treats for dogs, including pup-cakes for $5 (two for $5) and a gourmet flight of hot dogs priced at $40.

Dog lovers can choose from an array of unique hot dog offerings, such as the Coney Island Dog topped with Green Meadow farm beef chili, the Southwestern Dog with guacamole, the White Dog option drizzled with white truffle aioli, or the Backyard Dog garnished with ketchup, mustard, and BBQ potato chip crumble.

Those unable to attend can still support the cause by adding a donation amount to their meal checks at any White Dog Cafe location from now until August 4.

For pet owners looking to enjoy a luxury staycation, Hyatt Centric Center City Philadelphia is offering a special Paws + Play Package throughout August.

This package features a generous welcome gift for dogs, complete with dog treats, food and water bowls, an in-room dog bed, a $10 gift certificate, and a 10% discount for the local business Salty Paws.

Moreover, the hotel is waiving the usual pet fee, making it easier for guests to bring their furry friends along for a visit.

In addition to the comforts for dogs in their rooms, the hotel’s restaurant, Patchwork, will serve a selection of dog-friendly dishes for room service.

Menu items vary and include options like Berries & Cream, Chicken & Grains, and a Beef and Vegetable dish.

Prices for this package depend on selected room and dates.

Meanwhile, Square 1682 at the Kimpton Hotel Palomar has introduced its inaugural
