Also on Saturday is the Ukrainian Independence Day celebration, hosted by the Ukrainian Cultural Center of New England at City Hall. This event is a festive tribute to Ukraine’s national day, beginning with a flag-raising ceremony. Attendees can expect captivating performances from the MIT Ukrainian Folk Dance Ensemble, along with live music featuring traditional Ukrainian instruments. The festival will also feature various vendors selling traditional Ukrainian baked goods, handmade crafts, and jewelry.
For those interested in fitness and fun, a beginner-friendly Bhangra dance workout will take place on Aug. 19 in the Canal District Kendall. Led by Kit Tempest, an instructor from the Boston Bhangra nonprofit, this traditional Indian dance class merges energetic dance with the vibrant sounds of Punjab music. Participants can shake up their workout routines while enjoying the outdoor atmosphere from 5:30 to 7 p.m.
Game enthusiasts can head over to the Substation in Roslindale on Aug. 20 for an inviting board game night. The community space opens its doors for attendees to take part in a variety of classic games, from Scattergories to chess. Guests can enjoy complimentary comfort food options such as mac and cheese and chicken wings, all while mingling on couches in a cozy setting from 6:30 to 10:30 p.m.
Dog lovers won’t want to miss out on the trivia night at the Park-9 Dog Bar in Everett on Aug. 21. This unique trivia event, hosted by Geeks Who Drink, welcomes contestants of all ages, including their furry companions.
