Classic Films and Musicals Shine in Boston Screenings This Week

Fans of musical cinema can choose from timeless classics like “Singin’ in the Rain” or hit films like “Mamma Mia!” and its sequel, “Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again.”

For those preferring a taste of New England, catch Adam Sandler in “Happy Gilmore,” or see Matt Damon and Leonardo DiCaprio in action in “The Departed.”

One highlight this week is Martin Scorsese’s Oscar-winning drama, “The Departed” (2006). The narrative, set in the 1980s, follows undercover officer Billy Costigan, played by Leonardo DiCaprio, who infiltrates the mafia to pursue mob boss Frank Costello, portrayed by Jack Nicholson. Meanwhile, mob informant Colin Sullivan, played by Matt Damon, works his way into the Massachusetts police.
