Geartrade Powers Resale Revolution for Outdoor Gear and Apparel

SALT LAKE CITY — Geartrade is leading the charge in revolutionizing the resale market for outdoor gear and apparel through strategic partnerships with industry innovators.

In the last two years, Geartrade has collaborated with renowned brands such as DPS, Flylow, and Jones Snowboards to provide comprehensive support for their resale programs.

These collaborations have allowed brands to establish efficient resale operations almost instantaneously, thanks to Geartrade’s turnkey web design, sales management support, and complete fulfillment services.

As these programs evolve, Geartrade continues to facilitate significant enhancements.

A notable example occurred just last month when DPS expanded its award-winning trade-in program to accept skis from other manufacturers.

This move is pivotal for increasing the appeal and effectiveness of resale in the skiing community, as highlighted by Aaron Provine, Geartrade’s president.

Provine emphasized the importance of welcoming a variety of brands to encourage consumers to trade in their unused gear, stating that a lot of work lies ahead to tackle the issue of unused equipment in the market.

Geartrade initially launched the ‘Powered by Geartrade’ resale program in October 2023 in collaboration with DPS Revive, which encourages fans to trade in their old DPS skis for new ones.

Geartrade offered a full suite of services, including web design, warehousing, and fulfillment, which managed the refurbishment and resale of all incoming DPS skis.

The expanded DPS Revive program, unveiled in June 2025, now accepts any qualifying skis made in 2018 or later, as well as any DPS skis from any season.

Participants can receive a credit of up to $500, depending on the condition of the skis.

All accepted skis undergo a meticulous 10-point factory tune process and are treated with PHANTOM Glide, a high-performance base treatment to enhance glide performance across various snow conditions.

Aaron Provine remarked that while outdoor enthusiasts excel on the slopes, many are novices when it comes to resale.

To simplify the process, Geartrade offers free shipping and a hassle-free selling experience, although a bit of motivation is still needed to encourage individuals to declutter their closets.

DPS is the latest brand to join the ‘Powered by Geartrade’ initiative to accept all brands in its resale program, following Flylow’s innovative ‘Bib Buyback’ program launched in fall 2024.

This program, active annually from October 1 to December 1, invites skiers and riders to send in lightly used bibs in exchange for credit towards new gear.

Launched in conjunction with Flylow Leftover Land, the Bib Buyback encourages trade-ins of all Flylow apparel throughout the year.

In addition, the Jones Snowboards Re/Up program, which also began in fall 2024, allows customers to trade in qualifying Jones boards for store credit.

Moreover, this initiative goes a step further by accepting damaged boards from any brand, which are then refurbished into new snowboards through their groundbreaking Re-Up™ Tech reclamation process.

Geartrade offers a customizable suite of services for its partners to tailor their resale programs according to individual needs.

Services include web development to establish a consumer-friendly presence, free shipping for incoming and sold products, professional evaluation and photography of received products, and immediate disbursal of trade-in coupons.

Furthermore, Geartrade provides expert ski and snowboard tuning services and actively promotes sales listings to consumers via Geartrade.com, with options for creating a matching digital storefront on the brand’s website.

As the outdoor gear resale market expands, Geartrade stands poised to lead the way with innovative solutions contributing to a sustainable future for outdoor enthusiasts.
