Embrey highlighted how beneficial the fair was for her initial campus journey, leading her to an involvement in the University’s Programming Board (DUPB) and taking a lead role in planning major on-campus music events like Battle of the Bands and MusicFest.
“Having everything in one place where you can see what’s available and engage with people really helps to gauge campus interests,” Embrey stated.
Her advice for newcomers is to talk to as many groups as possible to uncover opportunities they might not have initially considered.
Another student, Ynosh Ilagan, learned the value of this firsthand.
Initially hesitant about joining the math club, the involvement fair opened up a pathway for him to engage in various activities, including DUPB, the Asian Student Alliance, and E-STEM, while also serving as co-chair of Mainstage.
Ilagan admitted feeling a bit overwhelmed attending the fair alone.
