Julian McMahon, Beloved Actor from ‘Nip/Tuck’ and ‘Charmed,’ Passes Away at 56

Julian McMahon, the talented actor best known for his roles as Dr. Doom in the early-2000s ‘Fantastic Four’ films and as Dr. Christian Troy in the critically acclaimed series ‘Nip/Tuck,’ has tragically passed away at the age of 56.

His wife, Kelly McMahon, confirmed his death in a heartfelt statement, revealing that he died peacefully after bravely battling cancer.

‘Julian loved life. He loved his family. He loved his friends. He loved his work, and he loved his fans,’ Kelly shared.

She added, ‘His deepest wish was to bring joy into as many lives as possible.’

In light of their loss, she requested privacy for their family as they grieve, extending gratitude to those whose lives McMahon touched through his work.

The news of McMahon’s passing was also shared on social media by the official ‘Nip/Tuck’ page, which was created by esteemed television writer Ryan Murphy.

‘Warner Bros. Television mourns the loss of our friend Julian McMahon,’ the post read, accompanied by a poignant photo of the actor.

Along with his celebrated role on ‘Nip/Tuck,’ for which he received a Golden Globe nomination, McMahon also starred in both ‘Fantastic Four’ and its sequel, ‘Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer.’

McMahon’s rise to fame began with his pivotal role in the supernatural drama ‘Charmed,’ where he captivated audiences from 2000 to 2005 alongside stars Shannen Doherty and Alyssa Milano.

Milano, reflecting on their friendship, shared a touching tribute on Instagram, describing McMahon as a ‘dear friend’ and expressing her heartbreak over his passing.

‘He made me feel safe as an actor. Seen as a woman. He challenged me, teased me, supported me,’ she recalled, emphasizing their unique bond despite their differences.

Born on July 27, 1968, in Sydney, Australia, McMahon hailed from a prominent family.

His father, William McMahon, held the office of prime minister in Australia from 1971 to 1972, while his mother, Sonia McMahon, was an iconic socialite and fashion figure.

In a 2007 interview with Jimmy Kimmel, McMahon reflected on his father’s political career, admitting he didn’t remember much due to his young age.

‘It’s a little different there because Australia’s a smaller country. It was the ’70s. Everything wasn’t so public,’ he explained.

In 2018, McMahon returned to his roots for the comedy-drama film ‘Swinging Safari,’ sharing the screen with Australian singer and actress Kylie Minogue, who is connected to McMahon through his first marriage to her sister.

His latest project included a portrayal of Australia’s prime minister in the murder mystery series ‘The Residence,’ which launched on Netflix this year.

McMahon is survived by his wife, Kelly McMahon, and a daughter, Madison, from his previous marriage to model Brooke Burns.

His loss will be felt deeply across the entertainment industry and by his many fans around the world.
