Kamala Harris’ Memoir Highlights the Glass Cliff Dynamic in Politics

Kamala Harris’ recent memoir, “107 Days,” has sparked considerable attention, described by many with terms such as “bombshell,” “juicy,” and even “score-settling, elbow-throwing, bridge-burning”; this is evident in a POLITICO headline.

While Harris acknowledges her own missteps during her unexpected campaign as the Democratic nominee in 2024, she faces criticism for pointing out the ways in which President Joe Biden, her predecessor, failed to support her.

Democratic consultants have quickly labeled her as “divisive,” “embarrassing,” and even a “sore loser.” However, this swift condemnation overlooks an uncomfortable reality: Harris is correct.

Biden indeed set her up for failure. Despite her flaws as a candidate, including a tendency toward caution that allowed Biden’s team to manipulate her, she likely could have defeated Trump if she hadn’t faced challenges essentially created by her former boss, who prioritized his own image over national interests.
