Tao Group Hospitality has made a name for itself by nurturing the careers of emerging electronic music stars, with Mustard being a standout example.
Born Dijon Isaiah McFarlane, the producer and DJ, is set to take the stage at Allegiant Stadium tonight as a special guest alongside headliner Kendrick Lamar, featuring SZA on an impressive lineup.
Mustard’s journey began over eight years ago when he debuted at Marquee Dayclub at The Cosmopolitan, quickly establishing himself as a frequent headliner at both the nightclub and dayclub venues, with his most recent performance during the July 4 weekend.
In a remarkable trajectory, he is now set to join Lamar and SZA for a performance at the Super Bowl LIX, marking a significant milestone in his career.
Jason Strauss, co-CEO of Tao Hospitality Group, reflected on their partnership with Mustard, stating, “We were the first to really double down on a residency with him.”
He also highlighted Mustard’s notable performance during Lamar’s “Not Like Us,” a “diss” track pivotal to the Lamar-Drake feud, especially during the buzz-generating Super Bowl halftime show where Mustard took the stage.
Now 35 years old, Mustard is among a select group of headliners that Tao Group has successfully identified and recruited early on in their careers.
The nightlife company has a history of spotlighting talent, having signed Diplo and Zedd for their inaugural Las Vegas nightclub shows at Marquee.
DJ Fisher has also been a resident headliner for the company since 2021, performing at Tao Beach and Omnia Nightclub.
Notably, Calvin Harris was showcased at Lavo Nightclub back in 2011, four years prior to his debut at the Electric Daisy Carnival.
“We were booking him for a fee that couldn’t even be imagined in this day and age,” Strauss remarked about Harris’s early gigs.
Following tonight’s performance, Tao Group will host Mustard’s after-party at Hakkasan Nightclub located in MGM Grand.
Even though Mustard does not have any scheduled performances at Las Vegas nightclubs during this tour segment, which is set to head overseas and conclude in Australia by December, Tao Group has expressed eagerness for his return.
A representative from the company stated, “Tao Group has a longstanding relationship with Mustard and his management team, and are thrilled he had this opportunity for a major tour and look forward to working with him in the future.”
As for the remaining dates on Kendrick Lamar’s “Grand National Tour” featuring special guests Mustard and SZA, fans can look forward to a series of spectacular shows across various locations.
The remaining summer dates include stops in major cities like St. Louis, Chicago, Detroit, and Toronto, before the tour heads to international venues in Germany, the UK, Italy, and beyond.
This tour has been generating significant excitement among fans, as both Mustard and Lamar continue to rise in prominence within the music scene.
As they perform in stadiums around the globe, collaborations like these highlight the evolving landscape of hip-hop and electronic music.
With the anticipation building for the future, it remains clear that Mustard is a name to watch as he continues to ascend to new heights in the industry.
