The Miami Takeover is set to make a triumphant return to Miami Beach from July 25-28, 2025, promising an exhilarating three-day cultural event that celebrates the richness of Black culture, art, community, and the vibrant sounds of Go-Go music.
Partnering with the Greater Miami Conventions and Visitors Bureau (GMCVB) and the Miami Beach Visitors and Convention Authority (MBVCA), this event is a highlighted part of the Art of Black Miami event series, aiming to bring together communities through various cultural expressions.
Founded by three HBCU-educated Black professionals from the Washington D.C. area — Wylie Kynard, Antwoine McCoy, and Vincent Peden — the Miami Takeover production and travel company has carved out a niche in curating events that cater specifically to HBCU graduates, Black professionals, and cultural tastemakers who appreciate authentic art and music.
“We’re excited to bring everyone together this summer while celebrating Go-Go music’s 50th anniversary with our main event — The Art of Go-Go Culture Fest,” shared Vincent Peden, a partner at The Miami Takeover LLC.
Taking center stage, the Art of Go-Go Fest will showcase a lineup of Miami and Washington D.C.’s most iconic Caribbean, rap, and Go-Go music artists on Saturday, July 26, 2025, at Miami Beach.
Antwoine McCoy expressed his deep connection to Miami, stating, “Miami Beach and the greater Miami-Dade County region, including the Opa Locka/Bunch Park community, is where my grandparents raised my father and his six siblings. So, Miami holds a special place in my heart.”
He added that this event is a continuation of the Miami Takeover’s cultural legacy, one that reflects the influence and roots from his upbringing in both the DMV area and his educational background at Florida A&M University.
Supporting the overarching commitment to community, Miami Takeover also collaborates with the Miami Beach Black Advisory Board (BAAB) to work towards enhancing social, economic, political, and educational needs within the diverse Black community throughout Miami-Dade County.
Wylie Kynard, another partner at the Miami Takeover LLC, emphasized the event’s guiding principle: “Everything goes back to Florida A&M University and our alma mater’s motto: Excellence with Caring. This serves as our overarching guiding principle, advocating for both academic and professional achievements along with community well-being.”
The Miami Takeover event lineup is packed with excitement, starting on Thursday, July 24, 2025. The schedule kicks off with “Comedy & Vibes” featuring Miami’s own Larry Dogg Band in downtown Miami at the Hardrock Cafe Bayside.
Following the comedy event, there will be an afterparty from 10 p.m. to 2 a.m. at the same location.
The fun continues on Friday, July 25, 2025, with the Colgate Bright Smiles, Bright Futures Community Service Kickoff Event at 9 a.m. This event, in partnership with Colgate and the Miami Beach Police Athletic League, Inc., will provide free dental screenings and brush technique tutorials for over 100 children under the age of 12.
Dedicated to honoring fallen Miami Beach Officer Arthur Martineau, this event will unite local officials and community members in remembrance of his remarkable 34 years of service to the community.
Following the morning’s charitable initiatives, attendees can partake in the Miami Meet & Greet Splashdown from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. This event will be hosted poolside at the iconic Z Ocean Hotel on South Beach, where guests can enjoy happy hour specials, vibrant music, games, and social networking opportunities.
As evening approaches, the Miami Nights in White — an all-white party event — will take place at The Urban located in Overtown Miami. Starting at 9 p.m., this outdoor nightlife venue will feature VIP sections, interactive board games, and a dance floor dedicated to hip-hop, R&B, Go-Go music, and Afrobeats. Open until late, attendees can savor drink specials and cuisine from local Caribbean, Latin, and soul food trucks. This event is for guests aged 21 and older and can accommodate up to 2,000 people.
The next day, Saturday, July 26, 2025, marks the main event: the Art of Go-Go Culture Fest at the Miami Beach Bandshell from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. Expect thrilling live performances from the iconic Junkyard Band, Marcus Blake, Top5, Rod Royal, Demont Pinder, and the Black Passion Band.
Attendees can look forward to exploring interactive art installations, enjoying a lively atmosphere, and tasting delicious food and drinks.
As night falls, the after-party “Can We Talk: The All Black R&B Party” will take over Club M2 located on South Beach from 10 p.m. to 4 a.m., encouraging guests to showcase their best all-black outfits and enjoy a curated R&B playlist.
The weekend wraps up on Sunday, July 27, 2025, with the Miami Takeover Community Service Beach Sweep from 10:30 a.m. to noon, inviting participants to help clean Miami Beach, beginning at the Marseilles Hotel.
Later in the day, it’s time to unwind at the Splash Daytime Pool Party from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. at The Backyard Pool Club, featuring leisure and relaxation to wrap up a memorable Miami Takeover vacation experience.
With a commitment to culture, community, and social responsibility, the Miami Takeover is poised to deliver an unforgettable experience for attendees and the local community alike.
