NASCAR is making headlines with an innovative plan to celebrate the 250th anniversary of the United States Navy by hosting a race on a military base.
On June 21, 2026, NASCAR Cup Series drivers will take to a yet-to-be-determined course on Naval Base Coronado, located near San Diego.
This event will cap off a thrilling weekend that also features Craftsman Truck Series and Xfinity Series races on June 19 and June 20, respectively.
NASCAR Executive Vice President Ben Kennedy remarked on the significance of this event, describing it as a historic moment for the sport.
The San Diego race will mark the first NASCAR points race in Southern California since 2023 and will replace the Chicago Street Race previously scheduled for the 2026 lineup, though it will not occur over the July 4 holiday weekend.
