Sonny’s Cocktail Joint has made its triumphant return for the third time after an unfortunate flooding incident.
Just after being recognized as “Best Comeback” by Best of Philly, Sonny’s was forced to shut down once again due to water pouring in from the ceiling during a heavy rainstorm.
However, returning from the brink, the bar reopened its doors on August 15th at 5 p.m. after a brief closure, with plans to celebrate in style.
The team at Sonny’s, led by Fetfatzes and Annechiarico from Happy Monday Hospitality, took swift action to support their staff throughout this challenging period, ensuring that everyone received their full tipped wages during the closure.
New features for this reopening include revamped happy hour deals and a variety of specials like $1 hot dogs during Phillies games and half off frozen slushies during happy hour.
In addition to menu updates, the backyard area will now be available for private parties, allowing patrons to fully enjoy their time at Sonny’s once again.
With all these new offerings, there’s an urge for customers to visit with care to avoid any more misfortune befalling the establishment.
In another sign of renewal, Amada in Old City has recently reopened after a significant month-long renovation.

Even the restrooms got a complete makeover as part of the effort to provide a more refined and modern dining ambiance.
In addition to a refreshed look, the menu has also seen a significant revamp.
The new offerings feature exciting additions, such as an aged goat cheese soaked in red wine and an expanded selection of large-format meats and seafoods designed for sharing.
Diners can still find traditional tapas and paellas alongside heavier dishes like lomo and filete steaks, racks of lamb chops, and braised short ribs.
Amada’s grand reopening is fortuitously timed for its annual “Pig Out” event on August 17th, where guests can enjoy endless servings of suckling pig for $70.
