New Dining Experiences on the Horizon in San Francisco This November

As November approaches, San Francisco is gearing up for an exciting array of new restaurant openings that promise a delightful mix of culinary experiences.

Food enthusiasts will soon enjoy Southern-style fried chicken and waffles, classic English sausage rolls, and Philadelphia-inspired roast pork sandwiches, adding fresh vitality to the city’s dining scene.

While November is turning out to be a quieter month compared to the bustling restaurant openings of October, which featured renowned establishments like Michael Mina’s Bourbon Steak and Arquet at the Ferry Building, there is still much for food lovers to anticipate.

Among the highly anticipated newcomers is Chicken Fried Palace, a diner-inspired eatery led by chef Seth Stowaway, who previously earned Michelin acclaim at Osito.

Set to open the week of November 17, this restaurant pays homage to Stowaway’s Texas roots, delivering comfort food with a Southern twist.

Teaming up with chef-partner Cole Jeanes, a native Tennessean known for his expertise with buttermilk biscuits, the duo aims to create a nostalgic diner atmosphere that resonates with the local dining culture.

Diners can expect favorites like fried chicken, waffles, and a range of indulgent boozy milkshakes and coconut slushies, crafted by Nora Furst from the nearby wine bar Buddy.

Stowaway promises that Chicken Fried Palace will offer an elevated dining experience that goes beyond typical diner fare, with the incorporation of seasonal California produce and diverse flavor influences, even reaching as far as Taiwan.

Cocktail enthusiasts should also look forward to a carefully curated drink menu that complements the hearty food offerings.

As the month progresses, Dingles Public House is another exciting addition to keep an eye on.

This British restaurant is set within the cozy confines of the Inn at the Opera and is the debut venture for chef-owner George Dingle, who has honed his skills at the now-defunct Monsieur Benjamin.

Scheduled to open at the end of November, Dingle’s restaurant aims to bring authentic British classics to San Francisco.

With his roots in Bath and Gloucestershire, Dingle plans to offer a menu featuring Sunday roasts complete with Yorkshire pudding, hearty meat pies, Scotch eggs, fish and chips, and flavorful sausage rolls, providing a true taste of home for British expats in the area.

The restaurant is not just about food; Anissa, Dingle’s wife and a front-of-house professional, is curating an approachable wine list to enhance the dining experience.

In the fast-casual segment, Jerry’s Roast Pork is making its mark in the city by introducing an authentic take on Philadelphia’s hoagies.

Matthew Kosoy, a Philly native, is transitioning from pop-up success to a brick-and-mortar location situated at the intersection of Sacramento and Davis streets inside Embarcadero 2.

Opening on November 1, Jerry’s showcases roast pork sandwiches as its main attraction, alongside pizza and salads.

Each hoagie is piled high with generous portions of meat, cheese, and fried onions, promising to capture the essence of the beloved Philadelphia sandwich culture.

Another highlight is Aji Kiji, which has garnered attention since its quiet opening last summer in Fillmore.

Chef-owner Jinwoong Lim is relocating the popular takeout sushi spot to the Financial District by the end of November, where he will continue serving his famed donburi, maki rolls, and bento boxes.

The new Aji Kiji location at the corner of Pine and Kearny streets will offer a similar menu featuring delicacies like smoke-imbued salmon topped with roe, richly marbled otoro, and buttery amberjack.

Lim’s attention to detail extends to the sushi rice, seasoned with two types of red vinegar, and he will provide house-blended soy sauce with each meal.

While the menu remains mostly unchanged, the new location will feature separate lines for customers who have pre-ordered online and those hoping to walk in for a meal.

Lastly, poultry aficionados will be thrilled about Quack House, the newest venture from the team behind the popular Go Duck Yourself.

Set to debut in November, this counter-service restaurant builds on their success with its focus on roast duck and aims to cater to the local community, especially singletons in the Tenderloin area.

Brothers Simon and Eric Cheung, who have a lineage of experience from their father’s well-known roast meat deli, will serve up Cantonese roast duck alongside soy-marinated chicken, barbecue pork collar, and crispy-skinned pork belly.

With extended hours from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily, Quack House will ensure that customers have ample opportunity to indulge in its flavorful offerings.

In summary, November is set to be a promising month for San Francisco’s culinary scene, with a diverse array of new dining establishments that will excite locals and visitors alike.

Whether you’re in the mood for fried chicken, British classics, authentic Philadelphia sandwiches, exquisite sushi, or delicious roast duck, the city will offer something for everyone to enjoy.
